Id pick out any pre 1981 nickels as they are .999 pure nickel
If your getting them cheap enough $5 FV usually sells for 15-20$ on ebay

I almost picked out some of those .. I was not sure of the
exact years. The ones for the early 40's look like they are made of something lighter.

How common are older coins seen in change, in Canada.

You can still find some 40s and 50s in nickels also, some early cents if you get a box and roll hunt.

Pennies: Pre 1996 Melt, Pre 1953 King George V and VI, 1999P, 2006P, etc.

Nickel: Pre 1981 Pure Nickel Melt, Pre 1953, George V silver, etc.

Dime: Pre 1968 Silver, etc.

Quarter: Special circulation coins, silver ones, etc.

Loonies: Special circulation coins, etc.

Toonies: Special circulation coins, etc.

In pennies I look for 1965 Type1 and 4, 1985 pointed 5, 2006 no mint mark magnetic, 2006 P mint mark, 1959 and older I always keep, Errors Plus anything silver in dimes and quarters.

I see 1lb bags, at 4.54g per 5 cent piece that's $5 face, offered for that price.

Pretty expensive given the 60 day spot of nickel hasn't cracked $10 according to Kitco.

Opened 60 rolls of nickels today. Spent 2 hours at the kitchen table.
Found;
240 pure nickels
1 - 2000p
3 - 1996 far
1 - 1964 ms (but not ewl)

$108.00 rolled back up to go.

I can see it is going to take time to learn all the good coins, to be watching for

I am putting a lot of "pure nickel" nickels away. I am wondering if the U.S. melters/refiners
are processing them

i understand your looking through old coin rolls but where do you guys go to find old coin rolls?

For pennies I keep all pre 1996 and check varieties
For nickels I keep all pre 1981 and check varieties
For dimes I look for silver and wish to find a 1969 large date. No success yet
For quarters I look for silver and 1973 Large bust
