Get rid of the following: half dollar, dollar note, two dollar note
Introduce the two dollar coin. Perhaps it should be bimetallic and a similar size to the dollar coin.

I voted to get rid of the dollar coin.

I would much rather have a $5 note in my pocket than 5 $1 coins. JMO.

Technically we already got rid of the Half Dollar, it is no longer minted for circulation.

If you are doing it right, you should never have more than four of either one dollar coins or one dollar notes.

The other day, I had 23 one dollar bills in my wallet.....and a $20.00 !

I really don't think I'd ever have 23 dollar coins in my pocket though !
Paper is "easier" to deal with in that sense......but it needs to go. With HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS of these dollar coins minted, it's time to start using them.
Starting clear back to the Suzy B !
Sacagawea's
Native Dollars
Presidential dollars
(Maybe even some IKES would start increasingly being seen in the wild again JB !)

It's too much and too wasteful to mint them, whether for NIFC or not, and just have them sit unused.
Going "NIFC" in the middle of a planned "run/program", is really just annoying and so redundant.
There needs to be a plan, a purpose, and a goal with the whole thing.

Reminds me of a good WORD OF THE DAY for us all.....

Paper notes are an enabler!

Even if someone is doing it wrong, switching from paper to coin will help them do it right. After all, avoiding that weight in our pockets it what the big fuss is, right?

I can't imagine having that many notes in my wallet (bill fold kind) at one time. I don't even think my wallet can really handle that much. I doubt I would be able to fold it in half.

Do you carry them on a money clip?

So when is anyone going to do something outside of this forum about it? I hear a lot of talk, but nothing to back it up.

Hey, I'm doing my part. My shop does not use ones. We give out all change using halves, dollar coins and $2 bills where appropriate. We do not give out ones, and all ones we get in are deposited nightly at the bank. And on the whole, customers love it.

That is great! So how do we get the same for every business in the country?

I don't see it ever happening, until the $1 note is no longer available. And that is the only realistic answer I've ever seen.

I am convinced that the numerous e-mails sent to my representatives are now being filtered as spam. I only have so many accounts to send from.

It isn't hard AT ALL ! ...... And actually, besides the 24 paper notes, I also have debit card, drivers license, 2 credit cards, 2 Lowes gift cards, one Subway gift card, one Pizza Hut gift card, family pictures, Conoco business gas card, BP business gas card, and a business credit card.
I also keep a spare key in my wallet in case I lock myself out ! (which I tend to do a couple times a year !)

Now, I never said it was "comfortable" to sit on this wallet !
But it isn't hard at all to fit all that and more in "my" wallet.

But back to the main point.....the way something would change, I believe, is to "protest" as close as possible to the White House and outside the Capitol building......EVERY SINGLE DAY WITH A LARGE GROUP.
Then organize small groups to do the capitols of each and every state.........maybe hand out IKE and Suzy B dollars to all the kids too !

Short of doing all that......yeah......nothing will change.....not in our lifetimes.

I too voted to get rid of the $1.00 bill. I typically use my debit card and usually have a $20.00 in my purse. I don't carry a lot of cash with me.

Doing my part...I just picked up 44 $2 bills from the Credit Union...and they had more, but I did not.

I used 5 for a haircut, and one for an Icy on my way to work today. I love the look "they still make these?"
