Tell that to my mother-in-law. She buys every piece she can.

I have to admit, the old stuff has held up pretty well.

How about glass milk bottles from the "Leave it To Beaver" days ? ......

And by the way..... "MY" wife has an entire double-door cabinet in the kitchen dedicated to the All-Mighty Tupperware God ! ........ ...... .... ...
This space could be/should be utilized for SO MANY OTHER THINGS !
As a bachelor, I only used 3 pieces of tupperware for YEARS ! I survived quite nicely thank you !

UPDATE ********

I found a total of O.N.E. silver coin in the Mexican bag.
It's a Un Peso 1958 Estados Unidos Mexicanos.
It says "Independencia Libertad" on the edge.
It's about the size of a Morgan maybe.....

Most of these coins are Copper-Nickel in composition....but this one coin (if indeed it is silver) paid off in buying the whole bag I suppose.

Now to check the Wheaties ......

One silver Mexican peso is better than no silver Mexican pesos.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe melt on that one coin more than covers the price of the bag.

So far with the Wheats......I've looked at 14 of them ! ...

There's a good mix of '20's, '30's, '40's, and '50's.

And at least half of the 14 I've looked through are "S" mints.

Found two ugly Steelies so far too.

A few of these Wheats are also in pretty nice shape !

Not bad so far !

There are 0.051 troy ounces of silver in that peso, so that makes it worth $1.62 at silver's price of $31.75.

You paid $2 for the bag of foreign coins, so you made a profit on the whole bag, since that one coin is worth so much now.

If nothing else - you have given a lot of us the fun of reading this thread! BTW - just curious - what caught your daughters eye on the milk bottle? Does it have a picture on the front or something? Some of those can be rather valuable. I have dabbled in them somewhat, though not seriously.

******** UPDATE *********

I'm sad to say that I still haven't gone through my second bag of Wheats yet ! ....

But I did kick some tail on FINALLY getting my garden all planted this weekend ! ...
It is now (nearly) complete with :

Tomatoes
Red Onions
Simpson Lettuce
Spinach
Broccoli
Carrots
Orange Bell Peppers
Yellow Bell Peppers
Red Bell Peppers
Green Beans
Potatoes
(weeded strawberry bed)
And I planted three rows of corn.
(also weeded blackberry, raspberry, & blueberry bush areas)
Finished up some work building the red brick fancy flower bed ring which will be sporting all different kinds of Dahlia's) (one of my favorites)

I've received my FOURTH sunburn of the year too, this weekend, for my efforts ! ....
And I still have a lot of other yard work to do, and more planting....
BUT....
I DO plan to look at my second bag of Wheats very soon, and will report the findings when I do, in a similar fashion.....Live and updating as I find those worth listing.

But judging what I got in the first bag......I'll expect more of the same, which if this proves consistent, will make this a TRUE mix of Wheaties, as advertised, which I've always said.... Estate auctions are the only real places left on Earth to get a chance at true bonafide "unsearched" good mixes of Wheat Cents. (meaning....they're not all common dates worth .02 Cents apiece)
So, I've never minded spending a little more money than usual for unsearched "lot" sales of Wheat Cents at these auctions.....a spouse dies......she has to sell everything......WHEATIES GOTTA GO TOO !
How many of us have wives who know little to nothing about coins ? .......you have a heart-attack someday & keel over......maybe your insurance sucked if you were even lucky enough to have any.........she has bills to pay, many of them being health care.....motorcycles, unnecessary cars, woodworking tools, mechanic tools, antiques, books, shelves, chairs, silverware - (including maybe REAL "silver"-ware) , fishing equipment, dog kennel stuff, guns, (antique & newer), ammo, comic book collections, old Coke or Pepsi machine, stamp collections, that "extra" washer & dryer in the garage, all those old coins, ..... What's that ? .... Some old coins will be there too ? .... Oh that's neat.....see where I'm going with this ?
The "batch" of Wheat Cents is not likely to be pre-"Searched" by ANYONE ! ...time after time after time after time.... even the auctioneer and his workers don't know exactly what's in these lots or "bags" of Cents...... and they often say so. Stuff placed in 2x2's or plastic mylars or in rolls can be looked at, catagorized, and sold as such in normal lots or individually.......but a coffee can of Wheat Cents ? ....A Mason Jar ?........not so much. They just wouldn't take the time.
They're too busy with all this other stuff to worry about looking through some Wheat pennies ! .....
But this is precisely why I like going to these things.... THERE IS SOOOOO MUCH STUFF THERE, that it's often very few people who even give a crap whatsoever about "the coins" in these kinds of auctions !

THIS IS WHY I LOVE ESTATE AUCTIONS ! ....... ............

(but it still only takes one crazy-happy-over bidding- often uneducated with coins, type of clown TO MAKE YOU PAY DEARLY IF YOU WANT SOMETHING !@ ......
So, in that sense.....it's still like most other auctions ! ...

If you want it against "him".....you'll have to pay $10.00 instead of $6.00...... or $50.00 instead of $43.00..... or $110.00 instead of $80.00.
And either "He'll" go back to the farm, happy with a new batch of coins...... or " I " will ! ....
And upon hearing the word "silver" at an auction......some people just lose their marbles and their stability and just start throwing their number up like they were doing some kind of Country Line Dance or signaling an F-16 to land on a Carrier deck or something ! ...

(speaking of "marbles"....Ha Ha ....LoL.... there were 1000 antique marbles at this auction too ! )

And I still have to find time to go morel mushroom hunting too....before it's too late !

Just not nuff' hours in the day............

******** LAST UPDATE FOR MY HAUL ! **********

Okay folks ! Here's the results of going through the final bag of Wheats.

6 Steelies
1910
1916
(2) 1917
1917-S
(3) 1918
(2) 1919
(3) 1920
(2) 1920-S
1923
1923-S
(4) 1925
(4) 1926
1926-D
1927
(2) 1928
(2) 1929
1929-D

That's all the oldest ones from the second bag. I think with the total "Pre-1930" finds that I have made with these 400 Cents, altogether, was well worth the price I paid of $32.00....

This was the first bag down below here.....

1909 (plain)
1911, 1913, (2)1914's, 1917, (2)1918's, and a 1919.
And Twelve Wheaties in the '20's. & FIVE total Steelies in this first bag.

I think that this is an excellent "unsearched" Wheat cent lot ! Again......I can't say enough about Estate Auctions where they happen to have some coins there too.

How disappointed would I be if they were all '30's, '40's, & 50's Wheaties.... .... or somebody "chummed the hole" with a few older ones to keep ya happy ? That would be the norm on ebay and the like right ?

....................... ESTATE AUCTIONS ! ..................
The Shiznit ! ......

Finding around 60 or so "keepers" worth more than .02 Cents apiece justifies my money spent on these 400 Lincolns ! .......agreed ?

Or at least in "my" opinion........ Anybody else's ?

Are you saying you paid $32 for 400 cents? That comes out to 8 cents each.

But if you are happy with the purchase, then it was a great deal.

The old saying about value still holds. It's all in the eye of the beholder, and he's holding.

He's also got the garden.

No !.......not quite exactly ! .....
Let me explain:

Somewhere in this long drawn-out thread of mine, I mentioned that I'd like to get the 400 Cents for $8.00 !
And OF COURSE I'd have liked THAT !
But that was assuming that it was gonna be what "most people" usually seem to get in "unsearched" lots...... which are all just "common date" Wheats......1930's, '40's, and 50's.
I wouldn't ever want to pay anymore than .02 Cents or .03 Cents apiece for those ! That's all they're worth to me !

BUT ! ......

If I'm going to be getting 1909's, '10's, 15's 17's, etc. etc. etc., etc., etc.,.......then yes.... I will be HAPPY to pay more than that for them !
Because just a few of those ( or about 40 different ones) in my case would make it worth that.

No one else thinks so ? .....

Jeeez ! ....

Do I need to post some pics of the better ones ? ....

A good many of the "40" I mention, would be worth .25 Cents to a couple few bucks EACH depending on condition and the buyer.

Yeah.......I have NO doubt that I made a good purchase ! ......

But, as I said, had they all been 30's, 40's, and 50's, THIS THREAD WOULD HAVE ENDED A LONG TIME AGO ! ....

The Holder is Happy !

I'll be adding these singles to my 1909 tubes, my 1910 tubes, my 1911 tubes, my 1912 tubes, my 1915 tubes, my 1916 tubeds.....1918 tubes.... all through the 1920's tubes etc., etc., etc., etc., and so on and so forth !
And since about half of the 400 Wheat hoard were "S mints" too.....I'm happy to segregate those and put them into their corresponding tubes or bags as well !

HOOO AHHH !

Discluding the keys & semi-keys (or varieties/errors) in this conversation.... ANYTHING "Pre-1930" in a Lincoln Cent, is worth more than .02 Cents to ME !
And still even in a G-4 grade ! ...

The history and age of the "Pre-1930 Cent" IS just more valuable to "me"........apparantly ONLY me, but that's okay !

And yeah, because of having spent that $32.00, I'm sure my family and I will now be evicted from our home, we'll have to cancel that trip to Europe, we'll have to cancel "cable tv", and we won't be able to even make bills this month now.......or even feed the dog....might be livin' under a bridge now spending this kind of big money and all....... BUT I GOT MY WHEATIES BABY !

It's just $32.00 BUCKS ! ........... Not $3,200.00 BUCKS on some gold coins or something !
