Gotta love any coin starting with "179". Very nice. Obv VG-10, Rev G-6. Net VG-8 with obv rim dings & what appears to be PMD on the lower loop of the B. Variety is O-105 R.4 - only use of OBV die 3 with REV C. There is an O-105a but yours doesn't appear to have die cracks from edge through B to top of head and from lower point of star 15 to bust.

I'm going with G6 due to the PMD that brings it down from a VG8. I would LOVE to have this coin type! A great part of US history! Another wonderful coin BrickellCat!

For some reason I read this as PCGS and not ANACS so I'll update my grade to VG10 details, scratched/damaged reverse. I really like this coin scratches and all! Hope you get a good grade out of ANACS!

I personally do not think the reverse scratches will warrant a details grade but, I could be wrong. In any case, I am upping my grade to G6 too :)

I'm going with a VG-10 Details (cleaned, scratched). I sent off a '95 FHD and it came back VG-8 from them. This one has a bit more detail. That's my story Your Honor and I'm sticking to it! Wonderful coin BTW...

You always seem to come up with some awesome coins and here is another in a string of many. I'll guess ANACS sends this back in a VG8 holder.

BC . . now that the suspense is over, what did you think it would come back as? I still think this should bring VG money.

I am thinking AG3 due to the amount of wear into the rims (not solid). ...well there you go...not quiting my "night" job.

The question from jeffrose reminded me to look in the back of the Dansco album. Low and behold the old grade was VG10.

Quote: The question from jeffrose reminded me to look in the back of the Dansco album. Low and behold the old grade was VG10. Exactly where it should be graded at (VG10) IMO of course (and apparently NGC's also) Glad you didn't get a details grade for the scratches, I think the 1700 and early 1800 coins get a bit of a pass on normal wear damage for being well over 200 years in circulation (though I'm sure this didn't circulate all 217 years of it's life! ANACS has been hitting stuff pretty hard as of the past 18 months of so, guess the market is changing for TPG's they want to be known as the company with no overgraded coins, not that this one was at VG10, but at G6 they are playing it very, very safe on their end.
