I dont know anything about these coins! But I do, very much, like the primitive style of the one on the bottom in the middle. What year is that?

I never realized how many of these Kangaroo coins there actually were. If someone tried to collect every different one, how many coins would they have in total?

I am with CBN as I have never seen four of the five, and never any gilded....

I like the first two under the first picture grouping the most by far, esp the second of the two as that artistic design is something you would expect to see on some ancient cave art hieroglyphics....

Wow really impressed with that set fantastic win congrats!

If you mean the one that kinda looks like a cross between a gator and a Roo, it's the 2003 Aborigine inspired year. Highly collectible.

The Roo series has run concurrently since 1993. But they also have another series that started in 2009 called Kangaroo at Sunset. There's also the Discover Australia line. Can't remember the year it started, maybe 2008, and they've included Roos in that set, as well. So there are at least twenty Roos in the main series run by the RAM, alone.

They are my favorites as well, beautiful coins.

It would be quite a collection, if someone was to collect them all.

That's the one. Probably the second most highly desired coin in the whole series and one of maybe two or three out of twenty-plus that I still lack.

Beautiful coins. Who designed them? Did they have an art contest or something like that?

Thanks for all the great comments and compliments! I am really excited about this collection and when it is done it will blow away anything else I have I'm sure. There is no silver bullion set I enjoy more than the Australian Kangaroos. If there is a set I would enjoy more out there...I haven't found it yet!

You know how badly I've wanted that gold 2003 Roo? I'm so jealous. What a great set? I have two of the five but you have the best, and most sought after, that's for sure. Was it a package deal? It couldn't have been cheap, I bet. $350-450, minimum. Great job!

No it wasn't a package deal but I did only have to purchase from two people to get the 5 coins.

Very nice! My daughter would love the one with "Joey" sticking his/her head out of the pouch (upper right hand corner).
May I ask how much that one would set me back?
What year is it?

That is one of my favorites of the whole series. It is one of three versions released in 2006 (uncirculated and proof versions as well) and sell for anywhere from ~$80-$105 on ebay not including shipping which can be over $20 in some cases if the seller is in Australia...which most of the time they are.

The gold gilded ones which I have shown where only produced from 2003-2009 but the base version of the series is the uncirculated version which has been released every year since it started in 1993 (to present). Then you have the proof versions which began in 1998 and have gone to present as well. Throw in three years of limited edition "Coin Fair Editions" of 1993, 1994 & 1995 and you have 45 coins in total from 1993-2012.

The coin with the joey in the pouch came out in 2006. Designed by Wojciech Pietranik.
The aboriginal coin came out the first year of the gold gilded Kangaroos in 2003 and was designed by an Aboriginal artist, Ray Thomas.
The coin with the outline of the Kangaroo hopping to the right was the last gold gilded Kangaroo and came out in 2009. It was designed by Australian artist Ken Done.
The coin with the Kangaroo holding the football came out in 2008 and was designed by Australian artist Reg Mombassa.
The Kangaroo which I did not show closeup but is in the top left of the group picture came out in 2004 and was designed by Wojciech Pietranik who has designed several of them.

To my knowledge there was no art contest. The artists were simply selected to design a year and that was that!
