I recently picked up a silver bullion round produced by the Golden State Mint, a private mint headquartered in Sanford, Florida. (Sanford is ~25 miles northeast of Orlando. ) The round commemorates the 250th Anniversary of the United States ("US").
I picked up a one-ounce (troy) silver round, but it is also available in two-ounce and five-ounce weights; copper versions of each weight are also available.
The round's obverse presents a collage of American landmarks and historical icons, including the Statue of Liberty, the Liberty Bell, Mount Rushmore and the US Capitol dome. The central design area also includes the inscription "250 YEARS". The inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "1776-2026" encircle the central design elements near the rim.
The reverse design features a Bald Eagle with uplifted wings holding a flag pole bearing a US Flag (with too few stars) while perched on a pillar. A ribbon wraps around the flag pole and runs across the pillar; it features the inscription "VIGILANCE". Above the eagle, near the rim, is the inscription "HONOR. COURAGE. INTEGRITY. PERSEVERANCE."
The reverse also incorporates the specifications for the round (i.e., its weight and purity).
IMO, the round is nicely-designed and technically well-executed. I find it to be an attractive souvenir of the US Semiquincentennial.
The round's price varies by weight and composition, with silver pieces closely tied to silver spot prices.
