Very nice find! I check every Coinstar that I see, and only once have I found silver, a 1964d dime. Odd though; I find a number of Wheat cents in Coinstar trays. Anyone else have this happen to them?

Most CS are set tight enuf to reject silver and wheats. Push come to shove, it's a defense against being a dump for thieves.

I've found silver dimes twice, and a commemorative toonie.

So you're saying the machines can sort the difference in silver and clad? And the wheat coins? Why not prior 1982 pennies as well? And then how are silver halves atill found. Just wondering and trying to understand. Thanks

Every vending machine can "sort" silver, and most do not accept it. Ever get that stupid quarter that won't go in the machine? Chances are it was silver. And I actually think they accept most copper... (coinstar)

In just the past month I've found 5 silver dimes (1964D x3, 1957, 1951S) and two wheat cents (1935S, and 1941) from my bank's coin counting machine.

It seems all too often I find more silver in there than I do from my roll searching.

I'm surprised that at a bank no one checks!

Yes. Q. David Bowers had a nickelodeon that would take V nickels, but not buffaloes. It all depends how tight you want to set them, so they don't also kick back the coins you do want to take.

copper vs zinc would be easy to set, but why? copper vs wheats would not be likely to happen.
