Quote: I'm interested to see what the seller sent you though. Of course, if it's anything but the coin in the picture, you have a slam-dunk case protesting the seller sending something besides the coin featured in the auction ad. (Actually, I REALLY hope you get the coin pictured!!)

That would be great if it was! The coin would have gone from one CCF member to the wild back into captivity with another CCF member.

That would be crazy indeed. But I have my fingers crossed that you get the pictured coin.

UPDATE: The coin received was a WORN-OUT Walking Liberty half. After contacting the seller offering to work out a solution without filing a complaint or involving negative feedback, we worked out an agreement. Seller will refund enough of the purchase/shipping to leave me having paid $10 for the half, which is about bullion value. I will leave no feedback at all on the transaction. It took me sending 2 pictures, 1 of the coin from the auction, 1 of the coin sent and a link to numismedia with information on the difference in Walkers and SLQ's. I also let the seller know that I know the photo was "borrowed" and there was zero chance she actually had the coin in question. She then admitted she didn't know much about coins and had only sold a couple and had done virtually no research on them. I chose to try to be amicable and cordial rather than just throwing a b**chfit and filing the complaint. In the end, I believe the seller will be careful if ever selling anymore coins, and I got a worn out Walker for about what I'd have paid for it at a flea market.

Sounds like she may have learned a lesson without any damage to either party. Thumbs up for taking the high road.

The walker sent is a nearly dateless 1920. So worn I can only make out the 20 under certain lighting/magnificaion and the area where a mintmark would be on the reverse is completely worn away.

Nice work. Maybe she'll think twice before trying that again.

I am not convinced this was a case of the seller not knowing the difference. They won an auction on April 1 that consisted of four dateless SLQ's and one dateless Walker. All coins were individually pictured and none of the SLQ's were type 1. Why dig up a picture of a 1916 instead of using a picture from the auction you just won ?
Just doesn't sit right with me..

I am just really glad you guys take the time to link these sellers and inform all of us newer to the hobby. I am not saying I will never make a bad purchase on ebay but this certainly helps me know which sellers I may need to look a bit closer at and what types of things to be looking for. Certainly learning a LOT here. Thank you!

dave700x - interesting, I hadn't looked at the sellers purchases. I have added this seller to my never again list anyway......
Once I brought up the point about the photo being 'borrowed' she agreed pretty quickly to work it out.

I think it was intentional as well. What are the odds she got a random SLQ picture and it was a 1916. She obviously knows it has a huge premium and wanted to sucker people into it.

Nice to hear you were able to work things out. Had it been myself in your situation I'm not so sure I'd have been as nice as you were to the seller.
