That one actually looks real to me, just heavily circulated.

real: 1,3,5
fake: 2,4,6
i remember reading an article about fake centenary florins and showed you how to tell them apart they were the lettering were aligned between beads, detail behind the kings head and the one I remember most being the detail on the rider's hand on the horse the fake will look like a blob while the real one will be detailed showing fingers although these indicators become harder to define as the coin becomes more worn particularly in 2 and 6 but on higher grade coins it is much easier to pick out these differences

What a lovely thread I just found -too late to contribute my opinion. Anyway, who am I to argue with Walter.
I would dearly like one of these coins -but, buy one one on ebay?- no way; more have been sold there in last 5 years than were ever made. (Only slight exaggeration.) And, don't some sellers have an awful lot of them!

cheers,
Jeff

Same here, but with that coin what rang alarm bells for me,besides the unatural wear, was the two points on the Kings robe didn't reach the rim, there was too big a gap which was a telltale of earlier fakes from a few years ago,and also no detail on the hand on the horse.

Listing is back again,US$160.

It is unusual to see these coins so worn considering they were sold for 3/- each, people tended to hoard them. Nevertheless it looks like real circulation (note the numerous minor surface marks in the exposed regions), that being said I haven't actually compared the detail to an authentic coin which would need to be done to confirm its authenticity (circulation marks can be easily faked).

Just re-sparking this thread. Came across this on the UK ebay site. It is nearly worn to the bone, but if anyone feels that it is real, then its a bargain basement price.

It's a fake and a poor one to boot.

Its a fake and the seller knows its a fake.

These fake centennial florins have been in plague proportions lately on ebay.

The fake where the most obvious giveaway is no detail to the hand on the horse has been around for several years on ebay,my worry is the more modern ones.
