Gary,
You really do need to do yourself a favor and watch it at some point when it is on. You will actually find yourself waiting for the next item just to see if it's a larger rip-off or not. lololol.
I must give them credit, to the unsuspecting person, they are good. I think I've only seen one or two items, including on their website, that were marked up maybe 10%. Most have been a lot more than that. I also remember hearing them quoting exact pricing that you see on the PCGS website. They didn't say it was from that site, but I was online at the time and the prices were the same as the inflated ones there....

It is an evil show In reality it is just one more Coin Show on the television that sells overpriced coins. If you watch any of these shows you will see that they handle coins with their bare hands. they drop them and they make up great tales about the coins. I spent some time watching a few of these shows during the holiday season and I did it while I had access to a computer. Each time a coin or set of coins was put up for sale - I searched it on the internet and in EVERY case. I found the coins selling for less with less postage. If you like spending money these shows will certainly help you remove it from your wallet. If you like a good laugh Watch the shows but PLEASE be careful. Remember these shows are informercials and not serious shows that answer questions about coin collecting.

Gary, I thought I heard the "Star Spangled Banner" in the back ground while reading your promotion. How did you do that? Jim

quote: What is Coin Vault?
A show on the Shop@Home network that features a couple of hucksters selling overpriced coins. The "hosts" also have other shows that sell knives and sports collectibles (probably equally overpriced )

It's sad that they can't make Coin Vault into something more like Antique Road Show wherein they discuss the history, unusual characteristics, rarity (or commonality), and condition of coins. Make it educational rather than commercial. <sigh> I guess that's not gonna happen.

I just saw two of those hairless weasels pawning the Presidential dollars this morning. Two $25 roles for $99.96? If you have the money kicking around you can get $1000 face value for just shy of $2000. Supposedly the phones were ringing off the hook. With the mint required to produce a sufficient supply for actual circulation and the unlikely event that the public will actually use them for this purpose, it seems like there will be a glut of these in no time. I think that the Sac dollars will be forgotten in all this hype and be the true collectors item. By the way, will the Presidential dollars be issued with the 2007 proof sets?

Just caught the HSN version. They're selling only the 3 proof branch mint coins certified by ICG. And such a wonderful collectible can be had for only $79.95. But thats not all...well sign you up for the auto-ship feature and whack you another $79.95 for each president as they are released. The Soprano's don't show anyone getting whacked that bad! In case you feel you weren't robbed enough now they are hawking gold plated satehoods at $49 per year. Man how do these guys sleep at night.

I bet they sleep real good on that mattress of money they are taking away from the people that know nothing about coins.

I also saw HSN last night and was completely disgusted. MS67 for $79.95? How could you charge that much when there aren't any population reports? You've got to love the B.S. they tell you about the rarity of a coin that is going to have a mintage of over 300,000. Disgrazia!

I stay away from the tv coin shows, except to watch once in a while when I need a good laugh. They are geared to the unsuspecting new collector and are a rip-off.

I liked the part where he stated that ICG was voted as the #1 TPG and most sought after by collectors in the entire country. I'll bet anacs feel left out that they weren't mentioned as one of the only 3 TPG's in the U.S..

I'd say some choice words about Coin Vault but it wouldn't be very family friendly!
