I ordered 1. I thought it was pretty. I did like the double loon better though.

So firstly, I can't take credit for the 'Queen riding a dragon' idea. It was thought up by someone else in one of the '20 for 20' threads I think. But I think we are in agreement that a coloured, glow-in-the-dark sceptre-carrying Queen riding a fire-breathing dragon would sell very well.
Slightly more on topic, I ordered one of the 2012 Silver Lucky Loonies online from Canada Post on Tuesday night. I only found out by reading this forum that they have free shipping for everything, which I thought was pretty nifty. And with all the shipping delays the mint is having, I kinda figured I'd probably get it quicker from CP anyway. We'll see.

I like the design and the no tax part...so I ordered one.
How about a dragon riding the Queen?

In the past they released a circulation one to go with the NCLT silver one. Is that not happening this Olympic cycle?

Quote: In the past they released a circulation one to go with the NCLT silver one. Is that not happening this Olympic cycle? I'm wondering the same thing, there have been circulation lucky loonies in 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010. I hope they will issue one for this year as well...

i wasn't sure if I really wanted this coin. but I realized that with all the new coloured coins I was getting caught up in it and said hey it's a nice looking coin, buy it.
As for Canada post, I wanted to try them and save shipping cost so I ordered a ''welcome to the world 2012'' coin for my newborn from my post office. I got it like 2 months later.
i guess it depends on the post office.

I did not like the coin until I saw it selling in ebay for $70. Three have sold for that much so far and some people are asking BIN price of $100. That made like the coin a lot more.

Dooby, not sure where you saw?
EDIT : found them. Are these really only available to Canada only? Doubt it.

"I did not like the coin until I saw it selling in ebay for $70. Three have sold for that much so far and some people are asking BIN price of $100. That made like the coin a lot more." YES I was just going to post the same thing, I was keeping an eye on ebay auctions all day during work, I saw this coin sell for $70 EASY! ....made me think twice about buying maybe... 5 *EDIT* Just looked at Doody Rak's reply...seems a new ebayer sold the 3 coins for $70 ..one for $68....I think maybe hes just buying his own stock to pump up demand? I mean...its not even close to selling out at RCM, mintage of 20,000 and its WAY over spot silver price

Hard to say if it shill bidding. Three different buyers with rather high ratings. Could me Americans buying these because there cant get it there. I hope the trend continues. The same guy got $119.99 for one of those stupid silver gold plated pennies from the 1812 set. I'm breaking up my sets and getting some loons.

It could be all luck, a lot of stupid buyers out there sometimes. But if this coin is truly only available in Canada, then then will be a decent premium...at least for a while
