ND, When you come to Indiana we want to be inspired with gold and Morgan dollars. This should give you a little time to plan accordingly! I am sure Kyra will back me up on this!
The last time that I attempted to give away a Morgan dollar, I thought that I was going to end up in trouble. (Anyone remember the $2 bill incident). Last spring while making my way back to Delaware, I made an attempt to pay the bridge toll (Chesapeake Bay Bridge) and the cashier got all bent out of shape. So instead of getting a coin with a value of $10 to $12, she ended up with nothing but the $2.50 toll. However, when CoinFest makes its appearance in Indy, there will be a little something special for all my Hoosier friends

One and the same, a beautiful smooth, glossy, black globule of volcanic glass that has worked it's wonders for me a fair number of years. Many times better than a pocket piece or any other item that could be carried in the pocket.

The Apache tear works best if it is placed in a Blessed medicine bag along with a white stone ,, and the breast feather of an eagle, and worn around your neck, it just so happens that I know an Apache medicine man that can bless the bag for you, for a 30-30 rifle and two horses ,I can get that done for you !!!

Gosh, I got mine done, way back in 1972, for a lot less and it has been with me ever since. Better than a best friend as we have NEVER had a disagreement!

I carry a couple Civil War tokens - one from the hometown and one with my last name on it. I also carry a Roman Empire Constantine the Great (307-357 AD) coin, for those rare occasions when you "need" an old coin for something. For part time pocket pieces, I usually keep a couple cwt or Condor token culls with me to hand out to kids.

I carry two coins together at present;
1) A 1697 English silver halfcrown grading VG if that and counterstamped, very shiny on the highest parts from jingling around with other coins in my pocket. I could probably sell it for a whole of $5, so I figure it's better off in my pocket!
2) A 16XX (last two digits worn off, probably 1670s or maybe 1680s) English gold half guinea. Really in bad shape, slightly bend, almost worn smooth, although the obverse and reverse legends are still readable (except where it counts). Retail value maybe $30 at a push, I once tried selling it to a dealer just to see what I could get for it, he said he really didn't know what to offer me for it because it was really only worth it's bullion what bit was left! So he said he'd decline the offer... thus I've still got it jingling around in my pocket.

No, it's carried in my front pocket and used as a "weather" stone. i/e; lay it on the front porch and if it ends up out in the yard, the wind is blowing...or... lay it on the window sill in the winter and if it turns "white" it snowing....or.... when it looks wet, its raining. Get the idea? a lot more dependable than the weather-man on Tv!

Old Dan, What would it mean if it gets wet in your pocket? I know----your sweating out there in that western sun? My Apache Tear was blessed in 72 and hand delivered and it has really been very special and with me every day since. Guess thats how I managed to get all this luck with collecting friends and coins in general? I know one thing, a million bucks wouldn't buy mine!

I'm trying to wear down a 2000 Sac, but as an earlier poster stated, they wear very well, except for the color change. It's going on 5 years now and it's still an XF piece.
Love to get it to About Good.

My current pocket piece is an 1890 Victorian Jubilee Head (British) Crown which, if it had not been harshly cleaned, would be about F or so. Now, when I have my keys with me, I have several "holed" coins on the ring including an 1853 US Large Cent, 1803 US Large Cent, 1898 US Barber half dollar, and a Byzantine Follis from about 1030 A.D. ... and, no, I did not put the holes in 'em.

About a year ago I took a 1982 G.W. commen 50C out of it's box for a pocket piece. Someday, I want to send it in to a TPG just for fun. Jerry
