Fire up the Charleston Mint and put out a C dime this year too, I guess.

Charleston
The C mint mark was for Charlotte, North Carolina and only gold coins were struck there.

Hey, if San Fran can make quarters with 'S' on it, then why not make them at West Point also and put a 'W' on them?

Don't give them ideas. You know if these things go over well they could very easily start selling rolls of all the coins with S mintmarks. Face value with just a 70% markup (Which is less than they are marking up the quarters) would soak the collectors for another $328 each each year. Then do the same with the W and make it $656.

I will clarify. I would only get a roll of the first year, IF I got a roll of each design. Definately NOT all of the future years that they do this.
And hopefully this first year will have some kind of significance, whereas, I'm sure the following years likely will not.
And they had better begin including them in the annual mint sets next year....

Eaglefoot, do you have any info about the mint doing more than one this year?
The site and the schedule for the rest of the year doesn't say anything about
any more than just one. Not even a TBD... Reading the press release, I got the
impression they were only doing one this year, and didn't even say anything
about doing more next year, though one can assume they might.

No its just as the title of my post implies though.
And with the Mints recent history, I just assume that they r gonna have a field day with all this and go all out 4making as much money as possible with the "SMINT PHENOMENA" going on.

So no, no information on this, JUST A SINKING GUT FEELING!

WATCH AND SEE! IS ALL I SAY! ......

I just read a 'story' on a site called "National Park Quarters" that
heavily suggested that the mint is doing all of them from now on in
's' mint, but I don't know if that is official info, or if it is more
or less just a blog type thing on an ATB coin info site. ?

I am not sure what to think about this yet. I am not really collecting
this set except for the fact that I get the mint and proof cents each
year, so I am sort of a 'captive' audience. Collecting them by default.

Having some dill and olive oil flavored Triscuits right now. Yum yum, perfectly good out of the box. The cracked pepper flavor USED to be my favorite, until this came along!

The problem is, the mint sets don't include these coins, so I'm back to debating if this is really worth it to collect or not.

How long do you think each quarter will be on sale?

I wonder if there will be any overlap in the sale of each of these S quarters?

An initial mintage of 1.4 million for each design has been struck, although the US Mint intends to produce the coins to meet demand. As such production may be re-started within the calendar year, leading to higher mintages.

My friend purchased some today he's going to sell me some for .70 cents a piece.

Bought a bag today, along with all of my other 2012 purchases. I think I'll buy a bag of all 5, keep the best 2 of each, and then sell the rest as 5-coin sets on eBa, except for ones that are so ugly I'd feel bad selling. Hope I'm able to break even or come out slightly ahead.

I did the same thing for my couple of Kennedy halves. problem with all these sold by the roll NIFC coins- is that 95% will never be spent which means they will never be worth more than face- and who will want to spend them? I believe they will mint five to ten million of each design.

There was an article posted by one of our fellow members who gave me the idea of buying a couple of bags like goldnugget did and then searching the coins in a couple of passes. 1st pick out the unmarked ones and then search those to find the better of those and finally select the best of the lot on a 3rd pass and then decide which of the final selection would be worthy of sending off to have graded.

According to this selection process you should be assured of increasing your chances of getting a selection of MS70 graded coins. Anyway I figure that 2 bags out increase the selection base in order to increase the likely outcome of getting MS70 coins.
