If the buffalo only has 3 legs I'd give you $10 in a heartbeat.

The coin itself can be obtained for under a buck or so, if you can remove it without doing damage to it. As it stands it's a nice novelty item worth what you can get for it (which doesn't tell you much because that rule goes for everything). 3 leggers start at about $500 but there is a diagnostic on the obverse that your does not have so we know it's a run of the mill '37

If the guy at the coin shop will still pay $5.00 for it then sell it to him. You probably won't get more for that anywhere else yourself. It is as was mentioned already just a novelty piece now. Ed ANA LM-3175

Quote: its not a novelty piece It is to a coin collector. It has been inserted into a foreign object, which destroys its' collector value.

It's more than likely glued or soldered down making it worth about what you paid for it, if that.

Novelty piece. If you like it, then keep it.

Quote: may I ask where you got your info from Really? Don't believe me - who am I? Ask someone else here; I'm sure we have a coin collector around somewhere. And keep in mind I wasn't the first who has mentioned this to you. Not to mention, everyone else since.

It's not like it doesn't have value; just not numismatic value. It doesn't have value to a coin collector. Like this one, a piece which will not be leaving my possession: In fact, I paid almost as much for this relatively-collectible date in the encasement as I would have had I bought it standalone as a coin for my collection. I like it. I like your Buff, too, but it's not a collectible coin. It's a novelty. I like novelties.

The arrow shaped mount is a decorative piece based on the Indian/Buffalo theme which makes it a novelty. Coin collectors just want the coin. Doesn't mean its worthless, so don't take offense.
Novelty:
1. a small manufactured article intended mainly for personal or household adornment 2. something that provides often fleeting amusement and is often based on a theme

The old coin show on shop at home sold those and tossed one in free if you bought mass rolls of buffs.

Who puts a 22D in a medal like that? But it is an awesome piece. I rather like the arrowhead as well. I personally would not sell it.
