I ask my local bank for any nickel dollars they have. I randomly noticed this 1982 Constitution dollar is in coin alignment instead of medal alignment. I googled it and saw an 2019 article from the Canadian Coin news that says they are very rare and one was auctioned for $6000. Here is quote from the article:
It's listed in the Charlton Standard Catalog at $6,000 in Mint State-63 - with nothing priced lower - and was described by auctioneers as "an exceptionally rare offering unlikely to be encountered again by most bidders."
I don't know a ton about coin values, let alone error value, so don't want to get too excited until someone with more knowledge confirms that this is a special coin. Can any experts on here confirm, and also suggest how to proceed? Send to a coin grader for authentication?
