A lot of your notes have interesting "cuts" and off-center issues. Like the silver certificate underneath the United States Note has a "T" in the top-left corner and a bar in the top center. Are those cutting guides? Or...?

Good question, maybe some of the experts will post a answer

I have noticed some of my notes are off center. I am not sure if the marks you mention are alignment marks for the printing or cutting .. or neither

A lot of the early notes are off centered since the printing technology was not advanced. And I think (don't quote me on this) that many notes were printed on a large block with cutting guides. Very much like stamps, there are letters to indicate which position the bills are from. Of course these were not supposed to be on the bill itself but they may have been cut by hand. Which leads to miscut and off centered bills.

Great idea for a collection and it is very nice! Please keep us posted.

So how did you come up with the 24 each for the SC and FR notes? I'm looking for ideas on how to collect a currency set myself. Especially something that won't break my bank account.

I put mine in currency pages and store them in a loose leaf binder.

I am pretty sure I started my list from a list another member posted here on CCF. Then I bought a book Guide to small U.S. currency and modified my list.

My list basically is one of each series. for example
1928
1928A
1928B

I did include four additional 1935A notes
Two 1935A experimental notes (red R and Red S notes)
also a Hawaii and North Africa note.

To make this set more basic, a person could drop these four notes above. Or even drop the 1928 red seal and just make it Silver certificates and Federal Reserve notes.

Once I get my E bay notes in this week, I will need 6 more notes. Of course those 6 notes will be the the ones I feel will cost me the most.

Here is the list I am working on

Series Type Seal Signature
1928 USN Red Woods/Woodin
1928 SC Blue Tate/Mellon
1928A SC Blue Woods/Mellon
1928B SC Blue Woods/Mills

1935A SC Blue Julian/Morgenthau
1935A SC Blue/Red Letter "R" Julian/Morgenthau
1935A SC Blue/Red Letter "S" Julian/Morgenthau
1935A SC Yellow/N. Africa Julian/Morgenthau
1935A SC Brown/Hawaii Ovpt. Julian/Morgenthau
1935B SC Blue Julian/Vinson

I did change this album. There will be 20 Silver certificates and
24 Federal Reserve notes.

The new changes makes this album much easier to put together.
Now I only need four more notes to complete it.

I moved the red seal one and the Hawaii and North Africa notes
to my second album

I put together what I call my "Rainbow" set.... This is a type set of currency with every color of seal. It was not that expensive and a great short set to show off when done. =^)

Collection you have!

I use "Lighthouse" (Leuchtturm) album pages for my notes ...

- OPTIMA (small size notes)

- GRANDE (large size notes)

I started using them since 2006 & they are very protective.

Nice set

With the cost to upgrade your 1928 US Note (red seal), would you consider keeping that note in your collection and spending what the upgrade cost would be on a error note (3rd print on reverse) and have that be the last note in your collection

I know some people don't like errors, but if I were to view your currency album for the first time and spotted a nice error on the last note ☼ you would see me

Not sure how I missed this last year, but very nice!

Thanks Jbuck .. I really should take some update pictures.

There are a couple notes I would like to upgrade and I still have the three hardest $1.00 SC's to get
1928 C
1928 D
1928 E

On my second album I start out with $2.00 notes.
on those I still need the 3 hardest
1928
1928 A
1928 B

my second album has two section
in the second section I am trying to put three examples
of each type note
three red seals
three blue seals
three yellow seals
etc

I am seeing my collecting strategy change in the past couple years .... I like the idea of getting albums like these and putting what ever you want to in them.

I also have purchased four similar albums for coins. I call them my 12 books .. 12 - 2X2's per page .. and I can put what ever coins I want to in them ....

Thanks for the offer ..but .. I really like the looks of a nice 1928 red seal .. Plus there are still 6 or 7 notes I need for my two albums.

I am also thinking of doing another album with just star notes ..

Your error note does sound pretty cool .....

Now you made me go look at my old notes. I was looking to see if I had one of the $2's you needed but it looks to be a 1928 D series.
