I saw someone else post a nearly identical nickel on Reddit and comments called it Progressive Indirect Design Transfer.
I know the larger shape of Jefferson on the reverse appears very similar to PIDT, but I'm wondering if this is actually a die clash that was polished down a lot so the die could be reused.
1. I believe the first T from TRUST (clashed from the obverse onto the reverse) was missed during polishing and still appears clearly at the bottom corner of the building.
2. The top of the building clashed onto the obverse over the end of the ponytail. These impressions are a lot stronger and more defined than what I understand PIDT is capable of.
3. Jefferson's neck is all but gone, presumably polished away when they were cleaning up the die.
What do you think?
