If I found out that I'd bid on a fake coin, I'd retract the bid and let the seller know exactly why, and if that didn't work, I would not pay and choose the reason, 'not as described'.

Ok that don't look right chief...And is it just my eyes or does the letters etc appear to be inwards on the coin rather that outwards?

I know I'm blind but......

Optical illusion Peter
Look at something else on the web and then return looking at the coin. You should see it correctly then
It sometimes takes the mind a little time to adjust to the pattern of light and shadow and form the correct three dimensional image.

One sure way to tell is to look at the bases of the letters especially in AUSTRALIA,they should all be perfectly straight on the bottom, not curved like the coin in the OP.
The T,R,I & last A in AUSTRALIA on this coin are really obviously curved base.

Lucky I didn't win the bidding or I would have had to put a bullet through it.

I thought it was quite a fair first attempt of an artist to do a coin portrait in watercolour.

Darn good copy/altered date, but it has a Birmingham reverse.

Learn something everyday. I thought the date font was a bit skinny than the genuine.

Also the beads do not match up correctly on the ALIA in Australia.

Should be at, at, between, between. Not the between, between, at, at.
