Please forgive me for 'toying' with your image. I just want to hi-light the rest of the defect:  I would say that all of this is part of one large Lamination Peel, just that the top right bit of it is much more pronounced than the rest. Is there something else going on with the edge of the coin? From about 3.30 - 8.00, it almost looks like it's separating, or is it an optical illusion? Anyhow, it's a corker error! are lamentation peels worth anything?

For a lamination peel like that, I'd pay maybe $10-$15 (To add it to my $2 error collection). CoinTimMan, depends what someone's willing to pay. I appreciate lamination flaws because they don't come around often like a Cud. |

Don't listen to these guys they are just fudging  If you listed this genuine error on ebay I would start the bidding at $50 and see what happens from there. If I owned this I would never sell it. Great find, these don't grow on trees |

I'd keep it too,just to see if it would eventually come apart when all the foreign matter in the planchet desolves or rots or falls out or whatever but very interesting errors IMO,some of the really spectacular peels are worth real good $$$$$ especially when the peel is opened right up.

Wow! Thanks for the help everyone. I'm more of a bullion collector so all this more technical numismatic stuff is really new to me. That said, I'll probably put it on ebay at some point...this stuff doesn't really excite me and I would like to pass it onto someone who would appreciate it more. Should I keep this is something like an AirTite container to prevent damaging it? nancyc: I'm not too sure what you're seeing in the photo, but the entire edge of the coin is intact. |

skypirate,This is what Nancy was referring to,there looks to be a crack or metsal displacement around the bottom edge of the coin,it would also be part of the peel problem.  |
