I would definitely roll hunt if there were no silver. The fun is finding a perfect specimen, or an error, or an old coin. The silver is gravy to me. Either way, the only way I see it to be impossible to find silver is: 1) a cashless monetary system; 2) Coin depots filter it all out; 3) banks will not order it or give coins over the counter.

There are lots of other possible reasons it may stop one day, but for now, lets all enjoy it!

I would certainly still CRH, my main objective on these is to find varieties anyways. I've already come to terms that silver is difficult to find as it is.

I would still coin roll hunt. There's some really great finds out there. Indian heads. V nickels. Wheat pennies. Steel wheat pennies. Copper pennies in general. Proofs. Buffalo nickels. Flying eagles. Varieties. Errors. etc.

Im not sure there is a category thats fits how I feel about it. I roll hunt to find intetesting and/or old coins. It just also happens that most of the halves, quarters and dimes that fit this bill are silver. I still hunt penniy rolls and love finding good stuff ther too and definetly not much silver there, unless a silver dime is mixed in the penny roll, which is not all that likely.

I used to hunt to fill my Dansco albums. Back then, silver was plentiful and filled more than a few holes.

As silver increases in value more and more common date silver coins will be sent to be melted. Likely making those common date silver coins no longer common and they will become rare. Already when silver hit $40-$45 all of a sudden millions of Canadian and American silver coins were sent to be turned into bars and sold. Not just by regular people but when the mints got them sent back. As long as silver stays high in price it will be less likely to find silver coins in rolls.

I love finding silver however it rarely happens to me. I think that being in Canada I would probably drop dimes as it's easy to get all the dimes that are not silver. Quartes in Canada are full of variety. As it seems the states have been going through this now, Canada has all kinds of quarters from 1992, 1999, 2000 and on and on...and there is always hope finding a Big Bust 1973 quarter(not likely). Nickels and pennies provide the most excitment as you can still come accross some oldies in addition to rare coinage. But that's just me...and I hope I can still find ANY silver for many years yet.

I voted that I would probably still roll hunt if silver wasn't an option. I would probably focus a lot more on cents for the wheaties and nickels.

Even if you do not plan to cash out your silver coins for someone just starting out looking for silver is the easiest thing to start out with. Knowing what else to look for takes time.
