Quote: is this the type of machine that you are talking about? Yeah, similar, but you can buy them in Oz, for $30-40,Aldi has one they sell for $30 every few Months & it works well. This mob has one on special(looks the same as your link)for $28-95 but it ends at Midnight Tonite. http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/pr...php?id=58047

I had a couple of coins with light verdigris on them, so I gave verdi-care a try (it cost $20 and $40 shipping but they refunded me $20 of the shipping cost because they managed to get it in a smaller package)
Anyway I was satified with the result it is surely a wonderful product. After applying a little to the coin the green stuff came straight off and since it was only around the rim of the coins any pitting left behind was hardly noticable.
The product didn't seem to effect the patina of the coins in any negative way either, if anything it seemed to deepen the colour slightly.
BAck to the subject in hand, until you receive the coins you will not know if they need any attention of that sort but with luck you wont have to touch them in anyway. Cleaning (or conserving as it is known if done properly) can only be justified if there is a very good reason, if it is broken don't fix it (if it isn't broken no need to break it)
If you get lots of doubles and can make multiple sets I am sure you can knock some of them out or trade them to some people on the forums (I know I have some gaps that could be filled if it can be done at good value)

I haven't tried Verdi-Care but have experimented with several similar products & home remedies over the years and they all seem to stain the coin to varying degrees,as soon as you put the Loupe on its apparent the Coin has been treated. I normally don't touch Coins in any way but Verdi has to be treated IMO,i originly used to seal them in a 2+2 to stop access to Air/Oxygen but it didn't make any difference the Verdi was still eating into the Coins a year later. I'm sure some of the dealers that post on this Forum would know the tricks of the trade to treat Verdi.
