Basil Pillar of the Community Australia 1040 Posts	Posted 08/04/2012 10:34 pm Yeah,any sign of cleaning or tampering will reduce the value significantly.I've posted this many times over the years on various Forums but a few minutes in an Ultrasonic Cleaner will remove Verdi.They can be had now for $30-40(instead of the $100+ they used to cost pre China days.). I just use tap water with a dab of detergent but if its a key date Distilled water is best in case the Chlorides,Fluorides etc.affect the Patina.A light dab with Olive Oil(Linseed?) then allowed to dry for several days should stop the Verdi. returning. Yeah,similar,but you can buy them in Oz, for $30-40,Aldi has one they sell for $30 every few Months & it works well.
