I have a George Washington that was given to me because the former owner "couldn't spend it". Hah!

san diego sea world gives out $2 bills in change for parking for a little gimmick. the attendant told me they tried giving dollar coins but had too many people refuse to take them that they had to stop. dont think they are very popular to say the least.

I live in Ottawa and work in a small store there and I have never got one. The only one I have ever seen is one my sister brought back from the states

I have had a couple from my local grocery store. I'm 2 hours north of the border.
They were both Sacagawea dollars. No presidentials.

NEVER.
In my trip to US, I never even get one from the cashier.
When I go to banks in US to return coins, they would rather give me paper money $1 instead of coins.

It's funny, seems every time the American dollar is worth much less than the Canadian dollar for exchange rate I start getting more American change from the stores I shop at. It is also the only times I've seen these American 1 dollar coins. I didn't even notice until I got home the first time, thought I got ripped off because I didn't know such a coin existed. I've received 7 so far, but I can cross the largest trade border between U.S. and Canada within 10 minutes from my house...

I've never had any given to me as change in the US. At the banks I always ask for them and never have issues. I even have received uncirculated rolls from the banks

FWIW, I found a Toonie in a coin counter here in the US. There's a vending machine at work that'll somehow take Canadian coins as American, but obviously not a $2 coin. I finally managed to trade it for a War Nickel...
