Just to prove how rare a D mint coin is, I just recently finished my circulated Roosevelt collection by finding a 1975 D. I have been working on this for 7 years and last week I finally finished it.

Scout. all the S mint marks after 1974 are proof coins and the S before 74 are circulation coins. but not all. the mint also made proof coins at the San Fran Mint after 1967. but before that the proofs were struck in Philly. so if you are looking for S circulation coins after 74 you wont find any.

I live about 10 miles outside of Philadelphia. I do come across D's in change but most of the time the coins are older dates.

The one place on the east coast where I have seen more D mint marks than usual, is in the casinos of Atlantic City.

Hi, I am a YD and just started collecting. As a beginner I look through coins all the time, and I have never seen a new one from the Philadelphia mint. I live in Colorado and the new coins are always from the Denver mint.

Bye!!

Grew up in upstate NY and now live in PA. I'd agree with all that answered above. Very rare to see a newer D mint coin. All the ones I've ever seen in circulation have been older coins.

Coin Girl, one thing I have found nice about this site is that you can find members willing to get you or trade mint marks with you.

Seems we all have a hard time locating mint marks depending on what state you live in.

So if you are looking for something in P mints just go to the appropriate forum and ask and I am sure you will locate someone willing to help you out.

Love this forum.

The solution to this problem may be that everyone needs to move to either Iowa or Ohio while they are collecting their coins from circulation. I'll bet the Tourist board never thought of this pitch!

I have a pile of dimes from pocket change on my desk that I've been meaning to sort through. A random grab was 23 P and 1 D. I live about half-way between Boston, MA and Providence, RI.

yeah I know Buddy thanks , I guess that goes to show how long I have been collecting I still hoard the late 60's and early 1970's S mint Lincolns, Jeffersons and some D mint coins as well If I find them I do still find 1970's S mint lincolns circulating at a rate of 1 a year maybe
