ANA - Lost 7,200 feet deep in the Atlantic in 1857, the S.S. Central America took tons of California Gold Rush treasure straight to the ocean floor. In Part 2 of our multi-part series from the World's Fair of Money in Pittsburgh, chief scientist and historian Bob Evans and enthusiast Greg Darnstaedt share more curiosities from their shipwreck exhibit. Bob shows off their 3D viewer showing initial underwater images of the treasure, details how the team injected silicone rubber to lift full casts of over 2,400 gold double eagles, and shows off "mineral rust" fossil impressions on gold. Plus, see what happens to a Styrofoam coffee cup when subjected to 3,200 pounds of ocean pressure per square inch!
