Unless your a gun collector and are in the market for something special, I'd stick with the coins. As a general rule, coins go up in value, most guns go down. True some guns gain in value, but no where near as much as coins. Then too, selling a coin is simple compared to selling a gun.

Your a man, do you have a job? If so tell the wife your getting a new gun next payday and that is all there is to it. I would be willing to bet that she gets what she wants when she wants it doesn't she? This strategy works well for me, and has for 27 years.

Very true, although you can shoot the guns. I guess you could shoot the coins too and start selling "rare" coins on ebay

I'll really be kicking myself I I sell some silver and it goes up over $40. I want to upgrade my 1911 but its not really pressing. It is something that can wait.

Carl, I don't consider my self a gun collector. More like a gun accumulator. It is a similiar strategy with my bullion pile.

Tim, I've been able to buy 27 guns in the past two years and I've piled up almost 200 ozs of silver since I got he bug in December. I can abide by my wife's wishes if that is what she wants. My wife never asks for anything and that is probably why I get so much.

Out of curiosity what 1911 do you have and which one are you looking to upgrade too?

Rock Island now and either a Springfield Armory, Ruger or maybe a Colt.

I had a springfield and a colt 3 inch. Stick with a 4 inch or more. The SA was real nice and loved the 3 inch colt, but the 3 inch 1911 are a POS. Constantly jammed and broke, jut to much stress on the design for the size.

Will definately be a full-size 5". That's what my RIA is. The two I am considering are SA Milspec or Range Officer. I'd have to sell more silver to buy a Colt.

Let silver go up a bit more and you'll be able to buy that government model for less silver. I want another AR but holding off waiting for higher silver prices.

I'd probably stick RA over colt just from the price. Not sure how great prices are around you but I know a great shop in KY that sells online with best prices I've seen if you wanna pm me.

Indian just don't wait to long. Those have been under fire, no pun intended, and might see the prices climb faster than silver.

$625 for the mil-spec. $825 for the RO. I have one dealer that I do all of my business with and I never pay the sticker price on whatever I'm buying. I also make gun stands that he uses for display an sells at shows.

I started dabbling in bullseye over the winter but then schedules changed and I haven't done it in a few months. That's what kind of draws me to the RO.

Maybe for now just get your ammo while you still can and shoot the guns you have, maintain your accuracy with what you already have and you might fall back in love. If I were to get a 1911 I wouldn't cheap out on it. All of those you listed sound like good bets anyways.

(me)^ Not a gun expert.

The RO is nice, I've just never been one for the fancy gun like that especially since the normal 1911 are spot on anyway. Cant go wrong either way

I kind of agree with Libertad though stacking ammo before the prices keep going up may be the better bet. Heck maybe you can just build a few stands and get both lol
