I saved this to remind me not to try and do it quicker...this is from MANY years ago and my attempt to use a table saw to cut the slab edge off....it did work quite a few times but that one time that the slab got caught and well...here it is...(the coin was not toned originally)..I don't think it will grade very high

I almost "die'd" from that "crack"...the slab shot from the blade and right through a window in my garage....

To set free TPG coins, I just use bolt cutters.
A couple corners cut off and the slab will pop right open.

I am thinking of Dremel on all corners, then wrap in towel & tap w/hammer on edges until it cracks open, keeping soft cloth handy to let it fall out into.

Hold it on edge, 2 quick raps of a hammer, rotate, repeat on all four edges. Pops right open with no damage to the coin.

I have used a dremel and cutters to free coins from slabs. Just remember the dremel will melt the plastic so it will need a little prying apart after you cut the seams and you will need to be careful when doing this not to damage the coin

To save on windows I now use either bolt cutter or heavy duty wire cutters....they both work great. Snip along the edges and pull apart...no smashing needed (or Kevlar)

Just wanted to report that operation was a success, first time out. Used a pair of clean cotton gloves to pick coin out of holder, no muss or fuss. Plastic broke cleanly.

Thanks to all, even the wise guys - LOL
