Nice, I was checking out that same coin yesterday and almost got it. I need a 3 cent silver still.

Some personality in that toning, I'd want it if I could afford it.

I like the appearance also. The surviving strike and obv/rev condition give it personality.

Nice looking 3 Center in my book.

Is that a holder it is in? What type?

GENUINE, encapsulated in a PCGS holder that indicates artificial toning. This is one that I would acquire even though an actual grade is not assigned.

Hard to determine originality on many coins and this is a good example.

Still waiting on the seller to give an update. How long do people keep coins "on hold" when the seller knows that others are interested in it?

The seller probably sent the coin out on approval from the buyer.
From the image, I'll bet the guy takes it.

Why buy a genuine coin? Go get a problem free coin, much easier to sell later

I don't recall ever getting a response from a seller that had a coin on hold for another buyer unless they didn't want the coin. Usually if the other buyer did purchase the coin I never hear from them again

Nice call bio, my initial impression was a fingerprint as well, and a very dirty one at that.

I got the message from the seller, it has been sold. Moving on. I called the seller to invoice another coin and he said that there was another interested party (me) interested in the 3CS and the the potential buyer need to {probably not forum friendly (bathroom expression)} "move it or lose it". The buyer finally jumped, and the search continues for my 3CS.

Same question here about this 1851 Three Cent coin, it looks like something sticky.
