Today is the 2 month (Oct. 4) anniversary I ordered it from Canada Post. Have not received it yet. How about you guys?

The 5 oz penny will not be shipping from Canada Post. A supervisor told me they sold out of the coins and will not be re-stocking them. Any orders still left on their computer system are due to a computer glitch.

MoneyPenny is right. I ordered three of these 5oz pennies on October 4 and somehow my order was totally missed. I talked to a couple people at Canada post and they told me that I will not be receiving my coins. I was pretty mad about this since I ordered them on the first day they had them listed in their website. I asked to have the contact information of the director of this department and after 4 weekly emails I finally got a response. They agreed to sell me another one of their coins at a 20% discount because of their mistake. I ended up buying the 2013 silver fractional set for ~$159 (retail $199.95). I'm satisfied with this but I sure wish canada post would get their act together with regard to processing orders.

Wow.... $500 bucks for it huh...Sorry guys, late comer here. Didnt even know they were making a 5oz penny. Very neat, still hard to swallow when you can pick up a 10oz SML for only $100 more. Again...cool coin!

Ya, did a quick bay search and found that out. Be neat to have such a large penny in pure silver but even at the original purchase price offered by the RCM, I wouldnt go there. Sadness. |

You could still buy the Canada 5 oz Beaver coin which sells for $519 and is widely available.

^Beavers an uglier coin and not as many people care about the topic of beaver vs one of the last penny's which is probably the reason it's still in stock.
Bromberg was heavily advertising the 5oz beaver and stempede coin last week :P

I own a lot of coins but the 5 oz penny is one of my personal favourites. It's just a really nice coin.

Before checking on ebay, my assumption was "around CAD 500" But the real situation is different: the asking price is CAD 550-700, but only one coin has been sold for ~450. I think, not much demand for this coin, and collectors who own it, do not sell. |
