How was it facing when you picked it up? Heads or Wheats? Just wondering about your luck :)

@teach I think it was wheat side up, but the coin is quite dark, so I'm honestly not certain (is that bad or good luck?!)

Some people say if you find a penny face down you should leave it or you will have bad luck.....personally I would have snatched it up no matter which side it was facing......

I don't care what they say about shiny pennies that it is a good looking cent to be found on the street. Especially now that Canada don't make cent coins anymore I guess they can start with these.

Hello,

You know that I love collecting all types of coins and spend hours upon hours doing so.

Additionally, whenever I see any stray coin on the ground I too will rescue it and check it out.

The same checking process applies for any change received during/after any financial transaction I engage in.

I really have not decided, yet, whether it is a blessing or a curse when I think about the amount of time already spent doing these procedures during my entire lifetime.

The moral of the story, therefore, should be that for any hobby involving collectibles the hunting should be enjoyed equally as much as the finding of any diamond in the rough...

Otherwise, considering a change in one's hobby is warranted.

Reminds me of the time I found an AU 1919-S wheatie in a parking in Hawai'i. It's the oldest penny I ever found... so far :)
