No corrosion that I can detect. Out of the holder it just screamed to me: "Look at me! I am beautiful."
Am not in this to profit - just want to be able to sleep at night.
It was sitting amidst a bunch of lousy Kennedy halves. Oh the stories that it could tell if only it could.
Just tell me that I did not take advantage of mother Miller.
She throws a lovely July 4th picnic! And plays a mean game of Pinochle.

I like it at EF40+. $25 was a fair price as I assume you were both happy!

I dared not hope for an EF.
I just dashed off a memo to my sister and Doris's daughter asking them if the detect ANY green on the coin.
As I am red-green color blind, I cannot tell.

I posted a reply twice but they did not show up so maybe CCF web site is having a problem? Anyway, I apologize if this reply is repeated.

matthewvincent - I think the price was fair. I started a Two Cent collection in AU (not quite completed) and found the 1864 large motto in higher grades to be readily available and reasonable in price. I think there were about 19 million minted.

Boy, sis read me the riot act: "GREEN, both sides!"
You see, Rosemary worked in not only one but two copper/brass mills and knows green when she sees it.

I'll be back tomorrow. Thank you all.

It is just a sample type coin, cipster, and I am happy with it just the way it is.

A nice looking Large Motto. For those interested here is a short piece I wrote on small vs large motto Two Cent Pieces. http://coins.www.collectors-society...ntryID=10429

My estimate of grade based on your pics would put in in the VF range. So you paid a fair price.

XF was my first impression when I saw the coin and at $25.00 I don't think you took advantage of the lady like it seems you may have felt you were doing. You should be able to relax and sleep good about the transaction. I know how you get though because I have done the same thing myself. I have bought coins I really didn't know that much about and really wasn't all that interested in but was helping someone out. The more I thought about the coins and what I paid I started thinkiong maybe I should go to this guy and give him more money because I knew he needed it and I wasn't sure I had actually given him enough as I wasn't really wanting them and was in a little hurry when we made the deal. After looking up the coins one by one and their pricing I found out that the deal was fair and it made me feel allot better about having the coins. I don't think I would have been able to ever enjoy the coins if I had found out I under paid him with me knowing he was only selling because he needed the money at the time

I don't see any green...then again I am color-blind as well.

Distinct vertical and horizontal lines on the shield, bow holding together the wheat on the reverse is nice and defined...sharp Two-Cent Piece!

Really nice coin and at 25 bucks I would buy that all day long. I'm no expert on the 2 cent but I sure can't find one that nice at that price and I've been trying. More like double.
