Youre in canada but if your a member of the ANA I believe it is theres a way you can submit to NGC without the membership. I have no idea what they charge, but Silvertowne lets you send in coins to them for submission to the major TPGS as well without joining and of their memberships. http://www.silvertowne.com/t-Grading-Service.aspx

If you find out what they charge would you mind posting it here. I always mention them when people ask but have no idea if its a practical solution or not after taking into account their fee if there is one

I called and the one who tooke care of grades was not avaliable. The one who actually picked up told me that the premium (to pay to Silvertowne) depends on the value of the coin which they will estimate, I believe.

The value can affect the price of the grading cost, but I wonder if the one who actually picked up really knew what they were talking about. That seems a little weird not to have set prices for it plus cost but if its a low premium it may not end up being bad at all

I'm sure she meant that the insurance. On the website, I saw, on a page that I don't remeber where, that says Silvertowne offers a service of suggestion for collectors because some specimen coins are not worth certification. It states that Silver Towne could offer suggestions. By the way, I do think that certification of something like the half dollar I have is risky. There is a very minor place on the coin that could either be water damage or fingerprint. I don't know what it is. There are no ovious scratches but minor ones on unfoucused ones under magnification. I wonder right now HOW I could get rid of it without certification. Half dollars are not my aims in coin collecting.

That is one of the things I like about the Silvertowne option that theyll give a second opinion and save you some money if its just not worth it.
You could sell it as is but will be looking at a far lower price tag. Itll be a risk for the grading that may or may not pay off. You could try sending it to Silvertowne and see what they say, but if you think it has no shot Id just sell it as is

Kennedys arent my specialty either I have no idea how the TPG would veiw that little mark. The safe play would to be just sell it for 2 or 3 bucks as is, but the high grade would be nice if you got it

Quote:I see 4 PCGS MS 68 Kennedy halves. When I zoomed in, some had dents on the rim. When I looked at some MS 66 halves, they don't have dents on the rim, which surprises me. Has anyone seen a MS 68 Denver 2011 Half Bussiness strike? Yes I have seen one but the Population of the 2011-D in MS68 at PCGS is 6. I will try to take a few photos tomorrow and post.

What would you think would be a good thing to do, here in Canada, with the water-damaged/scratched/mishandeled 8 1/2 rolls?
