basebal, the only colonials I found were a Connecticut and something else I don't remember that were obviously not that impressive. We didn't leave until like 4, so we were there at the same time. I am going to be back there in the morning at open or so, around ten.
Bryan, yeah, that price makes me go hmmmmm too. I mean if there is enough detail to tell what the coin is its a good 50 bucks right there.

We were definitely there at the same time then. I'm planning to go back tomorrow too not sure what time though. If you see someone with a grey fleece and a camo hat feel free to say hi.

Looks like I went to the wrong coin show! I drove up to Chattanooga and it was all about bullion. I did manage to buy three rolls of Morgans to flip on The Bay, but overall the vendors indicated a slack market for the classic bread and butter coins our hobby was built upon... Paleoguy

Nice coin ... note of course that the denomination is a Cent ... to the best of my knowledge no USA coins were ever issued as "pennies". received several reports from CCF members who attended the Vienna show ... and your well-worn 1795 cent is amongst the best. David

The notation on the holder says S.76B R1 Does that mean anything to you?
I have no reference material beyond here for the early coppers.

Yep. Finished off the nickel book for the most part. Did not buy the Kennedy commem set he brought in as the 98S Matte half had a carbon spot on the reverse. Argh.

{quote]The notation on the holder says S.76B R1 Does that mean anything to you?[/quote] yes, Vermontensium got the attribution wrong. A plain edge 1795 with the very wide date like that and the 1 so far to the left is definitely obv 3 (Breen's designation)used on S-76, 77, NC-2 and NC-3. On this coin ONE and CENT are close together and set very high in the wreath with the points of the inner left cluster to the left of the C below the word CENT (Hard to see in the picture but visible.). That only occurs on S-76. S-76 bridges the change over from lettered to plain edges and comes both ways. The lettered edge is rare, R-5, about 45 to 60 pieces known. It is S-76a. The plain edge is very common, R-1, over 1200 pieces estimated. It is S-76b.

Oh dear, vermontensium. Looks like the reverse does give this away as a Sheldon 76b, and not a 77.

LOL vermontesium, you normally hit it out of the park. The pic isn't the best, so no biggy. Like I said, I don't have the large cent volumes as I haven't had 200 bucks I wanted to spend on books instead of coins. LOL
