The Buffs seem 'up to snuff' but I would stay away from the others, especially the Shield. The photo is poor and odds are you would not be happy with that one in hand. Have you no decent local shop you can visit to choose type coins up close? It's tough to shop ebay for these due to wide variations in photo quality. Remember, these are coins that will always be readily available, so it's best to look at lots and lots of them before making a costly decision you might later feel less enthused about. I would search until one really grabs me. And that is soooo much easier to do when you have the piece up close under a lens with good lighting. Opinion requested; opinion provided. Good luck. |

Yes, my local shop prices much over numismedia.com. I try and use that website as somewhat of my price guide. I typically do not like to spend over $5 more than that guide has listed. Do you agree or do you think I'm crazy lol?

Ya, I was just wondering what everyone thinks about a coin of this grade for $45. It looks to be in MS condition, but I wanted others opinions. If I searched completed auctions for BU buffalos, I would get a wide range of numbers, based on what the seller considers to be "BU"..

Ya, I liked the other one as well, but it didn't seem to be THAT much better..and I figured that it would sell for quite a bit more before its auction time was over. I still think I got a fairly good deal. I have seen much worse sell for over $45. The prices seem to either have risen or just go for higher than the numis price guide. I havent seen a single type 1 from 1913 at MS63 sell for under 60..

Thanks for the comments guys. Ya, I just always worry that I paid too much for a coin. It's so hard to find the "right" coin for the "right" price online. I feel like I always take a gamble :/ Thanks a lot for at least giving me a piece of mind over this!

Well, the coin looks okay to me. That slightly purplish toning seems attractive, if that's what the coin really looks like. Pricewise, I think it's okay. But I don't have much experience with online buying either. I just bought a cleaned Seated dime in VG-10 for $7.. It didn't look cleaned in the pics :/ |

I'd say you did fine on your new purchase. I would have bought it for 45 bucks too.
