The Titus is a special slightly high end type but you got the low end. It shows a sow with piglets. The type was supposed to be offensive to the Jews following the destruction of the Temple. You have the rear of the sow and part of one piglet.

Thanks for the responses, at least I got one out of the four correct. I do especially like the Titus. I payed £13 for the lot which is around £3.30 a piece which I don't think is to bad? Also, what is a fouree?

I would pay 3 pounds all day for a halved denarius of Titus! You stole these my friend.

A fouree denarius is a coin that is counterfeit. It is not modern; it was made back in ancient times when these coins were still circulating. Someone would strike a fake in bronze and then dip it in siver to make it look like the real thing. Fouree coins are collectible in their own right as a key piece of numismatic history.

After waiting since last week for them to arrive the decent stuff is all broken! The two halves has been halved again and are all chipped and damaged. I'm soo angry at the seller as his packaging was terrible ( just a envelope...).

Silly, all that trouble for the price of a Jiffy bag and 2 minutes of care when packing

Oh how sad the idiots got a hold of these coins which have weathered a millennium of neglect and heavy circulation and ruined them in one fell swoop. Please tell us who the seller is so we may skip your most awful experience. I hope restitution is rapidly forthcoming.

ebay has gotten to be a real serpents lair of late. I've been forced to file grievances with more sellers this past year than ever before. Each time, the seller fought me at every step, while having use of my money. Tough times bring out the scoundrels. However, I still buy from ebay regularly because the deals when found can be substantial. I still buy a lot of silver at spot or below, sometimes far below. I suppose the hassles are just a part of doing business, but dishonesty and theft really raise my hackles.

The seller was dai-marl. I'm just contemplating returning them for a full refund or seeing if the seller would be interested in a part refund?
This is the original listing...

Was it just the halves that were broken or the wholes also?

Part refunds are always the better option for the seller, send him a picture and see what he says, might be a decent sort and offer a 50% refund, seems fair if two out of 4 items were damaged. The deal would still be good for £7.50.

If the breaks are clean you can almost invisibly fix with a steady hand and small amounts of superglue. Your not having the best of luck with sellers at the minute.

Yup it was just the halves; Titus had his forehead cut off and Trajan lost his chin!
I was going to glue them accept the breaks aren't clean; some of the surface round the breaks are completely gone and have just crumbled into dust...

Even if you had two nice pieces, I wouldn't glue them, I would prefer the two halves. That's just my opinion!
