You're not always going to get obvious metal flow in the design elements bordering the clip. It's sometimes only detectable under high magnification.

The taper on the rims just doesn't look right to me either. The light reflection in some of the photos gives me the impression the taper is more parallel to the clip which is not what I woud expect. But what really caused me to question the clips was the boldness of the ship right against the clip and the D, E and T close to both clips on the opposite side. Is there any chance to get a close up photo of these areas?
LOL. Well Mike was typing a response to my concern as I was typing it. I would still like to see a close up of these ares if possible.

I gotta get up on the roof and do some moss patrol/prevention but as soon as I get down I will get the best pics I can without taking the coin outta the flip.

Doesn't make sense to me, how do you get a clip on both sides of a coin when a clip is usually from the punching of a sheet, you get a clipped coin when there isn't enough metal left to make a full coin?

This will do. I clearly see the expected metal flow in the E of WE and the T of TRUST. The clips are authentic.

Indeed ... informative thread and a nice end result for the OP. FWIW ... I was going with Mike Diamond as soon as he offered an opinion. David

Thanks ! She bought it for me for Xmas but she felt silly about buying it and thought she had messed up. She gave it to me a cpl days ago. I told her I loved it and it's an awesome coin but I told her I would check with all of you and find out for her. She will be home in a few hours and this will make her day.

Are there any corresponding flow marks at right angles to these? With this coin, I would expect to see fewer or no flow lines on the outside edges of the lettering, in the unclipped areas, if it was genuine. There does not appear to be any flow lines on the outside edges of the sail, near the clipped edge, on the reverse.
Opposite (contrived) clips could be a good way to hide the Bleakesley effect.
I have a large UNCLIPPED coin, with radial flow marks around the whole coin. All of the lettering is blurred slightly on the outside edges.

Yep, I now agree it is genuine. I should have asked for the close up photos earlier. Mike, thanks for jumping in and clearing this up.
