I always look at the reject bin on my way out of the local supermarket. It paid off this week with a 1964 dime.

I found a token(no cash value)and a copper slug before, as others said if I pass one I will look. I also always check ATM's, found $20 sitting in the tray once.

I'd make a job of it if checking Coinstar was fruitful. But a find is uncommon. I've hit on three silver dimes in five years. I always check when I'm in the supermarket.
But what is "the return dump"?

I always check and today it paid off! Found a 1957 silver Rosie! Don't find anything most of the times, but this was my best so far.

I've scored some silver and it doesn't take much effort - worth it in my book.

Found a 1959 D Roosevelt in the Coinstar reject slot yesterday. That's three silver Roosevelts since New Year's day. YOu can't miss the whiteness of the coin when you go looking. It's a great thrill to find free silver. Makes a trip to the grocery store worthwhile.
I've accumulated 5 silver dimes in 11 months.
But how come these people redeeming change don't check the reject bin?

i work at a grocery store and I check the reject bin on my way and out from work and also on my breaks, I got the cashier in on it since her stand is right behind the coinstar I told her id give a dollar for each dime she finds and 2 dollars for each quarter she finds.

she only cares about the quick cash and not the resell value of the silver itself

Good plan, Mulder. I wish you luck. Finding that dime got into me, so I picked up two AU Peace dollars yesterday. Love them too much, maybe.

ooo, Peace dollar is next on my list for my next silver coin to buy, sadly no coins today at the coinstar, I'm gonna ask the manager that counts the cash register drawers to jput aside silvers for me since I'm not on register anymroe I cant just check myself, but even then I was limited to using the one drawer for the whole day so I didnt know what was in the other drawers

I worked at a convenience store a long while back and picked up some silver dimes there. I was hoping for more, but I think those were lifted from someone's stash. The thing is, this all takes time. Nothing good comes all the time. You just stay focused, work at your passion, and good things happen.
Yeah, I love the Peace dollar. Funny thing is I don't collect them slabbed. I collect the Morgans in MS64. A lot more detail to the Morgans.

i usually check, never find. I do however, find an occasional gem, in the reject tray in the coin counter in my bank branch. I have found a few foreign coins, a couple of silver coins, and several wheat cents there.

The grocery store by me has a coinstar machine by the exit. So I go in through the exit and casually look down at teh reject tray as I walk buy so as to not look like a total Hobo. Everytime I walk in there are AT LEAST 4 people or families leaving out of the doors so there is a lot of foot traffic past that machine. I did manage to score a silver Roosevelt dime in there once and since I al already at the store it doesn't hurt to check.

I have had better luck though with halves at the bank that is in the same store.

Coinstars do reject silver coins, so there is always a chance for a small score :)
