SPP is probably 100% correct about being struck twice... I used one of my programs and asked it to place pink colour at the high spots, and if you look where the arrows are pointing, that may be parst of the penny relief....Just a thought.

There is no doubt about the coin being double struck. I am thrilled SPP caught on as did Windchild and Bm. Look for what is there, not what you expect to see.

Probably way more impressive, with more subtle clues, in hand...

Not really. But once you see the few tell tales of the 1 cent strike, makes it rather special.

Double denominations with different dates are quite rare, my guess are only a dozen or more are known and represent an extremely small percentage of all double denominations. The same is true for USA errors of this type. I would like to see posts of those that have double denominations of different dates. They are fascinating.

Actually there are quite a few of the different date double denominations out there . Here is a 1975 quarter on a 1972 nickel . Very hard to take photos of - you have to have the coin in hand to see the details .

Different kind of double denomination with different dates . 1993 quarter on a 1991 panama 1 centesimo ( note - this is the same one on Patricks site but the date on his site is incorrect )

The 1 in the date stands out in the photos of the 1975/1972

The point I was making is that there aren't "a lot" out there. There may be quite a few but not a lot. I would estimate that less than 2% of all double denominations are different dated. Thanks for the images.

Actually I would estimate on the double denominations I have seen over the years that at least 20% of Canadian double denominations have different dates . Mind you the total number of all double denominations is relatively small .

I should put a little correction on that last post . That is 20% of them that you can actually see both dates !
