I like #1 and #2 I like the elephants on the reverse of coin #2 ... I like the mere size and weight of coin #1 ... NOTE => I like pretty much everything about coin #1 and coin #2 ... Solution => I think you should buy coin #1 and coin #2 ... there, that was easy!!

No kidding Batman-the coin is look super in that lot. The sellers photo does not do this coin justice. I think I am gonna grab up this coin, now I have to wait for internation shipping I should see it next year, but before I pull the trigger on this, I never spent this much on an ancient coin, let alone a small ancient coin. I think I will buy it but I am reeling a little bit at the price... its a far cry from a nice 2nd century frisbie. Although someone told me once that good things come in small packages!

I can see why you're torn between the two. I was going to vote until I read the size descriptions. I think all of us have lots of small coins and few chunky ones. I'd go for number one for that reason. It's also a great coin and I think fairly priced.

I think the best value would be the Seleukos. This one "looks" quite nice for the price (hopefully no bad surprise once in hand). These often sells for much more in a lesser condition

After looking around, I would have to agree, but Dionysos you worry me do you have some doubts there?
AH Coin Addict you see my dilemma.
I am leaning towards the Seleukos drachm- I really dont want any surprises!

The only thing that worry me a little from the seller pics is the lighter spot, bottom right on the reverse (chipped ?).
There's always a risk when you buy online, from pics only. I bought things I thought perfect that really were not once I got them. On the other hand, also bought coins I thought were of medium/low quality that turned out stunning. That's part of the game I guess.

A little late, but I like coin #1 best. The Tetradrachm of Macedon is hugh and heavy. Me like.

If you want to make sure, just email him to ask about that spot I mentioned and, maybe, if it has some cleaning marks (or if it was cleaned recently). He looks like an honest dealer, he should reply honestly.

Now lets suppose the reverse is chipped. Would it still be worth the asking price? Oh JW- you I am with you on the Chunky!

Quote: Now lets suppose the reverse is chipped. Would it still be worth the asking price? Always depends on how it looks in hand... As said before, I do not like his pics, makes it hard to clearly judge the coin. But if it's nothing, it would be a great value imo. Personnally I do not like the Macedonian tetra. There has been many on the market these past year, and this one is not that good looking. I think you could do better for the price.

I would go for 2 personally... Coin 3 the offcentre thing rules it out for me.
Coin 1 is not unattractive but the details do not jump out... perhaps weakly struck or a little worn. It's plus is that it is a tet, and I love a large silver lump.
Coin 2 is not so large as 1, but a drachm is still a decent size to see ^^ the portrait is the selling point, it really stands out, the toning is not unattractive, the reverse is cool and it is both sides are well centred. Also it has a little provenance and is a good price for its type. So that would be my choice.
