In 324 Constantine declared a second war on Licinius and defeated his army of 170,000 men at the Battle of Adrianople, which succeeded in silencing him up within the walls of Byzantium. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12/20 69 AD Vitellius tortured and murdered in the Forum; his body thrown into the Tiber. He was hiding when his enemies found him. Vespasian's troops ignored an abdication agreement and took him to the forum where he was beheaded. His brother and son were also killed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12/22 245 AD Diocletian born in Dalmatia, near Spalato. Born in a family of low status with the name of Diocles. He quickly rose through the military hierarchy until becoming the commander of the cavalry of the emperor Carus.
