Nothing to worry about Liverslab as I roll my booby traps out like Kevin in Home alone .... "Gangster 'Johnny': [hears knock at door] Who is it? Gangster 'Snakes': [Snakes comes in] It's me, Snakes. I got the stuff. Gangster 'Johnny': Leave it on the doorstep and get the heck outta here. Gangster 'Snakes': All right, Johnny, but what about my money? Gangster 'Johnny': What money? Gangster 'Snakes': Acey said you had some dough for me. Gangster 'Johnny': That a fact? How much do I owe ya? Gangster 'Snakes': Acey said 10%. Gangster 'Johnny': [smirks] Too bad Acey ain't in charge no more. Gangster 'Snakes': What do ya mean? Gangster 'Johnny': He's upstairs takin' a bath. He'll call you when he gets out. [pause] Gangster 'Johnny': Hey, I tell ya what I'm gonna give *you*, Snakes. [pulls out machine gun] Gangster 'Johnny': I'm gonna give you to the count of 10, to get your ugly, yella, no-good keister off my property, [shouts] Gangster 'Johnny': before I pump your guts full of lead! Gangster 'Snakes': [wide eyed and calm] All right, Johnny, I'm sorry. I'm goin'! Gangster 'Johnny': 1... 2... 10! [starts unloading bullets into Snakes while laughing maniacally] Gangster 'Johnny': Keep the change, ya filthy animal!"

Yes that's exactly the point, I agree with Baseball.
Furthermore, whatever info you leave on the Internet, does NOT make you anonymous. Don't think for one second you are. Every single person can be traced by their IP that was used to put these posts and subpoenas can and have been used to get as much info from the hosting site, the site admins, the IP service and more. There is no covering your tracks on the Internet.
Hackers can get what they need if they chose and so can the IRS, who has used photos and postings when double checking and asking for a proper rendering.
Finally, my intention with this thread was to hear from the community how they felt about that,,, and I appreciate everyones comments. Personally, as much as I would love to share my entire collection, I cant bring myself to share pics and details. So kudos to all who do and I appreciate everyone who does share the photos and isn't bothered one bit.

Well said, yup! Couldn't have said it better myself.
This is the post-Y2K era. We're not in the 1950's any more. Intimidating appearances and personalities, guns and all that "then" stuff may well have provided adequate security and protection then, but that's the point here -- that was then and this is now. If you live with a loaded gun in your hand (literally) at all times--including while in the shower--you might have a chance. Barring that, it's easy for somebody to scope your routine out and get the advantage over you when you're not expecting it. When that happens, you're toast, and all that "we got guns" stuff, the "we know how to handle ourselves" stuff and the "I'm tough and everybody knows enough to stay away from me" stuff will instantly become useless. When your hands are empty and you're looking at the muzzle of a 10mm, none of that stuff means anything and after you take a hollow-point through a knee, you'll be rushing to open up your 3,000 pound safe rather than take another one in the other knee.
I honestly have trouble believing the way the delusional, macho self-images of invulnerability and immortality persist. I know those attitudes don't persist among those of us who've seen comrades get fatally shot and die right next to us and I do hope those who continue to harbor the delusions of invulnerability and immortality won't have to learn the hard way. But -- whatever. To each his own.
As Doris Day used to sing back in the 1950's, "Que sera, sera..." Best of luck to everybody.

I guess it must be a generation gap or something I'm in my mid 20's and cannot believe how paranoid some people are not to post pictures to share within a community. Trust me sitting around and thinking about someone tracking me down based on my ip then following me to find my precious "precious metals" is the last thing on my mind. I have a life don't need to worry about those small things. Plus anyone who puts in that kind of effort must be one really determined person.
Think about it for this to happen it
A) has to be worth the robbers time B) that robber has to be computer smart, may have to travel, then follow you know, you're routine etc etc.
Like many people have said I'd be more afraid being followed leaving a LCS or a bank than posting pictures on the Internet.
I guess living in Canada we don't worry about these things... Oops did I just say Canada... Well I hope that ip tacking burglar has a valid passport now

"I mean, really---counterfeiting a $50 piece? How much of a profit margin can there be in that? Answer = evidently enough, and the bad dogs are HUNGRY and highly motivated."
I as well often wonder why the thieves waste their time FF with smallz. If your gonna be a crook why not go big and do 100 bars lol....
I think the cons encounter the same issues legit sellers deal with in smallz sell way faster and way more commonly then big buys. Why, more affordable and many like me who gamble on bay and buy 1 oz. here and another there feel they are o.k. with this practice. Meaning if one or two out of hundred turns out to be fake little damage done to wallet and main hoard....

@silverhawk---Your quoting my other post where I pointed out that the bad dogs are down to the level of counterfeiting $50 pieces is a good point and well-taken. The point is that the activity range of the bad dogs has an amazingly low end.
Anybody who wants to is free (and encouraged!) to call me paranoid or late for dinner or anything else as well, but there is no arguing that the bad dogs are singularly unselective and they have a surprisingly low bottom end of eligibility for their attention. It'd be wildly unrealistic to think that because you have a mere $5K (or whatever) worth of PM's that you're under their radar or that you're hard to find. Nobody is hard to find, nobody is under the radar and nobody is so tough, well-armed or scary that they're invulnerable. I used to know people who are now dead because they used to think that way, and the way they went out left a lasting impression on me.
But, that's just how I think. Anybody else who wants to should feel encouraged to leave their PM's all spread out on their windowsills-- with the blinds up and all the lights on overnight, including while they're on vacation.
Well -- as of now I'm finished and done harping on this subject. I'm out of this thread and I'm leaving it to all the rest of you. Besides -- I gotta get back to my bomb shelter because the paranoids are out to get me!

Mind-numbing statements like this are really counterproductive to the discussion if you ask me. Obviously no one is going to advertise that they have precious metals in their homes. Just because they aren't worried doesn't mean they are ignorant or reckless. I'm not worried someone is going to steal my car, but that doesn't mean I leave the doors unlocked with the keys in the ignition with a sign on the windshield that says "Take me for a spin!" I'm sure there are plenty of people around the forum who don't think it's a great idea to post pictures of their stash online. A lot of those people probably don't post at all and simply ready the discussion.

Hey FF you remind me of my father when it comes to the never to safe attitude and he is as paranoid as they come....
I do agree many fools who didn't keep their head on a swivel ended up taking dirt naps way to early I do realize that. Dad always says one way in this world and a million ways to go out. I promise I have had this drilled in my head like a solider in the military from an early age....
My father has four cameras on his property hidden and watches the front gate often from his big screen. He has a legal gun permit and walks around with a 357 so I have seen it from all angles....
We all are victims of getting comfortable in our own surroundings as after countless nights of UNENTERUPPTED sleep it is easy to let your guard down and think all will always be this way....
All it takes is one misplaced crook who stumbles onto your property on the run perhaps and catches any of us at wrong time and we all could be in bad SITUATION REAL FAST....
But as far as worrying about pics here, look at it like this....
I drive by a serial killer every day and so do all of you there out there thick....
I bet seven out of ten houses COULD or indeed have a NEST EGG be it pmz or what ever. Flip a coin or spin a wheel and go eh....
I am small, I flip often and many times have 100 oz around or sometimes just 20, good luck with that timing. I as well have a gun and keep my head on a swivel with many dogs....
If anyone is so inclined to come after me and me or my small assets from great distances and hope to find my hiding spots only I know of, they need to RETHINK their strategy and come up with a more sound plan. Again if your gonna go to the dark side, why not go big, and I certainly will never be big....

I could write a thesis on criminology and crime theories on here, in fact I've done it before.
Anything can happen so I won't ever say can't or won't happen, but the simple fact is its relatively low risk. Common criminals don't put in that kind of effort when they can just mug old ladies or women who are out to late alone. As far as house break ins they'll just hit easy targets and be looking more for jewlery and electronics, things that are easy to flip. They don't want 100 pounds of silver where they may or may not even know what it is.
Pro teams will want bigger scores. The group that robbed the bellagio vault won't be interested in coming away with 20k of silver. Hackers that are that good would just steal your credit card or bank info and keep their risks down.
Obviously if you flaunt it around in public someone will take a run at it. But the odds are overwhelming against someone just randomly tracking people here till they find one close. They like easy targets the simple mentioning of being armed will be enough for most criminals to move on.
Even if we say that's the method of tracking they were going to use they would be more likely to target a jewelry forum or someone who pasts a pic of a 20k coin they just bought or high value album. Weight and bulk slows them down, is harder to hide/move and harder to unload. You can find buyers for tvs and jewelry all day long finding someone who wants 30k in silver bars not so much. Most stolen cars get ditched to get rid of the evidence and from being hard to sell a lot of the same principls apply here.
Again just be smart about it. If you were to get robbed for your stash its much more likely to be from someone you thought was a friend or a dengenerate family member.

well...
I am not old, ima young for starters. However, its just many here havent been advised on risk management, so this concept or thought completely escapes them.
Perhaps some folks that post here have big egos and cant find attention else where because anywhere else outside of this forum they would be laughed at and ridiculed for buying silver and gold. I dunno I could be wrong. lol
I for one, wont be posting up pics as much as I would love to share my collection :D

Most here are pretty conscious about how they post. I havent noticed anything with dead give aways. Most probably dont share anything with people off the forum because thats when you are raising your chances of being robbed. FB is far more likely to cause you to get hit when you post about a vacation or something along those lines.
The risk of being tracked through here is about the same as a random robbery, things are just simply going to happen and you cant control everything. Its a lot like mass shootings, we always say what can be done to stop them and the simple truth is nothing can be done if someone wants to do it theyre going to do it. All you can do is hope someone is there with the ability to stop them.
If your so worried just take pictures away from your house with the geo tagging on so they get the wrong location if they do lol

Yup7676,
I take offence to this statement as I bet many others will. I for one post my pick ups to show others some rarer items as I do buy many hard to find old poured bars, this is a PM section on a coin forum after all.
Outside of this forum I have many discussions about gold and silver with many wealthy fellow gold bugs. I could stroke my ego and go on about my family business (one of the biggest companies in Canada) the houses/rentals/properties I own, or my education, cars, clothing etc but this is a PM forum after all.
Judging by the posts you make I'm starting to feel as if you're just a Internet troll, or some wanna be hotshot.
