Drop dead gorgeous! Got to be at least MS-66 judging by these photos.

Quote: Well - I broke down and sent this coin for PCGS grading today. I should have a grade back in 30 days or so. I'll update this topic when it comes back and see how you all did. Many thanks to all your responses. Marty Can't wait to see the results.

Good luck! Based on what can be discerned through the 2x2 it should go MS63 and maybe 64. The spots really hurt and would likely prohibit anything higher unless PCGS removes them. That is known to happen, I've had PCGS "touch-up" coins I've submitted without me asking.

When I bought this coin and several others, they came in a small green box with each coin wrapped in what looked like tissue paper. My local dealer said that this is how they originally were packaged by the bank, I'd never heard this before and consider it odd from today's standard of care. In any event, I'm hoping for at least one of the 3 coins to come back at ms65. Ms66 sounds to good to be true, but when my local coin dealer took it out of my old screw case, the black spot on the obverse and reverse were gone and the fiber like mark near the date was gone too. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a grader having a good day! Marty

Good luck on those Marty, I think you have a great shot at some high TPG grades on those, gorgeous coins, both of them.

I got the news today and will post new pictures and the TPG verdict this weekend. Let me know how you would judge this one. Thanks. Marty

MS64. Wish the photos were sharper in focus though. The coin looks very nice from what I can tell.

I'm no good at grading gold, but hopefully you will get an MS 65 on this one. Great looking coin!

64 or 65 to my eye, and I am normally pessimistic when it comes to grading. Can't see much wrong with this one!
