It's a 1909 VDB and someone added the S... It's too low to be original, and looks to have tool marks. I've never seen it on a penny buy I have seen Quarters done this way.

Fake, possible real VDB with added mintmark.

Out if curiosity on my own part, how are fake mint marks added? You couldn't punch them because it would not look right. So I assume that they would scrape a mint mark off another cent and then transfer it over. Would you solder it or glue it? If it was glued wouldn't it come off in an acetone bath?

I also agree that it's fake. The top picture posted shows a circular discoloration around the S, from the counterfeiting process. Actually looks like a S/S mintmark.

The 'S' looks suspicious and the 'D' on the reverse looks slanted to the right. However, I do think the dent is authentic.

And the 'B' looks bad too.

Yeah...I was wondering about the V.D.B too--perhaps it's just wear but the middle stroke doesn't seem angled right?

I agree, the VDB looks O.K. to me, the 'S' is a fake in my opinion.

They take a small area build it up slightly with matching medals, and then take a very precise grinding tool grinding everything but the fake S down and then shaping it. That's why you have a small raised area around the S. It is not a job for the average person, it takes years of experience.

The VDB does not look strong enough. The V is more faint than the B.

S is too far right to be die 1, not far enough right to be die 4, and too low to be dies 2 or 3.

I took a pic of yours and laid it as a transparency over the 4 pictures of legit ones shown. The bottom right is closest - but still way off when it comes to MM placement and size/appearance.

Aye I concur. Bad mint mark. Far too thin and not where it should be.

Not sure about the VDB. It looks weak to me, too, but I'd need to see it in-hand.
