If I am not mistaken, I think this was an issue that often comes with weak skirt lines. There appears to be significant mint luster remaining and feathers visible on the eagle's breast which on EF coins that I have seen are often worn away or merging together. The toning does make this trickier to grade. I may be the most optimistic but I really think this coin could be an AU-53. You may want to give this an acetone bath since there some green stuff by the flag. That was a fantastic buy! I may have come shopping with you one of these days.

I think it's better than xf-45 also, with a shot at AU-50.
I love walkers! nice early date coin.

Beautiful russet toning. AU50 Yes, ANACS would be my choice for this one.

That coin is Ch AU, but it looks like it has PVC on it, too. Be careful.

Quote: That coin is Ch AU, but it looks like it has PVC on it, too. Be careful. You really think AU, Tom? I noted the flatness of the obverse strike and pretty much graded from the reverse; I maybe need to recalibrate my WLH thinking. And good call on the potential PVC. Jmkendall, acetone won't interfere with this coin's color and it really couldn't hurt to get it into a soak to arrest that green if it's PVC. If you're not familiar with acetone use, let us know and we'll get you safely through it.

Yes, great, GREAT buy! Yes, treat with acetone to remove potential PVC residue. Yes, worth slabbing. ANACS is the budget choice but it might be worth springing for PCGS to maximize potential resale value. Yes, easy AU detail with attractive, original crusty toning. If the coin is PVC-free when submitted it should definitely slab problem-free.
Congratulations!

That's an amazing coin and a smoking deal. I use to see G4 examples sold for 15$. Love the toning on this one.
