Quote: The coin has 103 offers. I really wish we could see what they were. All it says is everyone has been declined. Quote:Come on, would you really buy those off ebay? Why not?

I wonder what RCW paid for it? I buy 75% of my coins from ebay or websites and this would be no exception but RCW is local so I'd arrange for a pickup.

Quote: What is the back story on this guy? Coin facts says its a pattern coin and its actually the only one in that grade. It sold on Heritage in 08 for under 7k and was sold in 05 for under 7k again. Its record price is 7,700 in 1992 at stacks bowers.

It's worth maybe 40 times the value of my car Honestly though, I don't know if I would ever want to purchase something like that merc, even if I could afford it. Dropping almost 80 grand on one coin? I could put together so many complete sets in decent grade for that kind of money.

Nice coin. That being said, think he intentionally shot the picture at that angle to get the green been to appear gold? I see there is no mention of CAC certified, maybe to avoid that being an area of contention if there is buyer's remorse?

Think of the assortment of other key dates and interesting coins you could buy instead with $78k. Sorry, but maybe it's just the fact the I'm not a big Merc fan, but I can't imagine dropping that kind of dough on one coin.

His Proof 69 1907 High Relief St. Gaudens now has 113 offers, I guess the guy is not really interested in selling it but is using ebay to show off what he has. Ed ANA LM-3175

Now that is a coin I'm interested in. I would rather have that than a dozen 1916 D Mercury dimes (if price didn't matter of course)
