REMEMBER, this is a tough year due to a high volume of high quality strikes available. I would be absolutely positive it is a truly high grade before submitting it. I made the same mistake so I would know.
That scratch under B of PLURIBUS and UM would scare me enough to hold back.

I would think MS64 to 65 would be deserving. Can you read the news paper from the reflections in the fields?

I need to try and re-shoot these out of the holder. The coin has a pretty strong frost like appearance. The cheek area is actually stronger than a couple of the same date era (80-s 81-s)that I have graded as MS 66 by PCGS. Coin is pretty reflective....not DMPL strong but PL is a pretty sure bet. I took it to a local dealer that represents PCGS, he said he could see it bringing as strong as 66 PL but should nail 65 PL without an issue. Still debating, not really sure I'm going to re-sell it anyway.

I think MS-64, I am not sure about the PL because I have seen some coins I just knew would be PL or DMPL come back with no notation of the mirrors on the label but on the other hand I have seen some I never would have thought would make PL because the mirrors weren't as deep as the ones I thought were PL and them come back as DMPL. I guess its all in who is doing the grading that day

Solid MS64 maybe a PL designation, but it's got to be really good to PL at a TPG for 1880-S dollars. I was at 65 at first glance, but I found a few ticks and marks - not too distracting though, but enough to keep it out of 65 territory I think. "Buy the Book Before You Buy the Coin" - Aaron R. Looking at it I'd say MS-64, but with a shot at a 65. It may have too many marks to go to the 65 IMO. some more photos would help.. especially reflective test photos. As for the PL, personally I'd say it definitely looks PL! Beautiful Morgan!
As for a third party grader designating it as PL... I'm not sure... 1880s's were SOOO well struck that they really have to stand out to get PL/DMPL designations.
I've seen many from this year/mint that obviously are PL, DMPL even, without the designation on the slab... I just cherry picked an PCGS 1880s last week, I'll be posting it soon so I don't want to say the grade yet, but it reflects clear as day to the DMPL line on the PL testing page I have from over a foot away... When I get good pics (soon) it will be another "what do you think PCGS called it?" hint hint... lol. If you were nervous about K-mans you may not wanna read mine when I post it... Lol, it's not gonna help with your nerves.
So with these really well struck dates I almost think its hit or miss even if they are obviously PL/DMPL coins, apparently they have to be super super super to get that designation because so many were struck nicely...

Here's another picture of the obverse, highlights the cheek better, and also the fields, to the point of being able to see polishing lines, coin is reflective to around 5 inches with newspaper print.  |

IMO the cheek is 67ish; it's the fields that bring it down. It all depends how much they weigh the devices vs. the fields. I'd say 63-64PL, but possibly worth a premium to the right buyer.
