Hey FatFreddy,
I hate to hear you've gone on such a streak of bad luck with the halves. Glad you have a good penny/cent market.
I'm sure you've posted about your bad luck but if you don't mind, can you put it the details all in one post? Things like your region/town, how many banks, local, regional or national banks, type of boxes/bags? Maybe some of the good people here can give some advice that would be helpful or inspirational. I, for one, hate to hear someone so committed to the hobby hasn't found a single silver half dollar.

@Owassokie (and others)---Many thanks for your thoughtful sympathy and condolences!

I'm in the Albany, NY region and I've been hunting Brinks and Loomis bank boxes from two large regional banks. Since it's the NYS capital, we have a LARGE
population of retired state workers in the area. I suspect we also have an unusually large population of retired CRHers who've sucked the silver out of the area
pool of halves over the years. Taking it a step further, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if we have a number of Ryedales cranking away in the area.

I've already done more than my fair share of whining and crying about my CRH experiences with halves in other posts. I still mention it on occasion, but only to
impart a little bit of a "reality check" to CRHers who've hit it BIG in the opening few seconds of the game. Those happy big hits right at the start are incredibly lucky
aberrations that I think have no statistical probability of continuing. I don't mean to rain on anybody else's happy parade, but I was just trying to suggest it won't be
totally sunny forever. Well --- that's that. Enough of my pessimistic whining!

@WVB&G---Here's hoping your (at least to me) amazingly lucky hot streak lasts longer than my 50+ skunk box run with the halves!

On an odd (and maybe related?) note... I just did a LCS pickup this morning and one of the things I got was a wooden presentation case of a dozen "colorized" ASEs.
I get these for $1.50 over spot, acetone them back into being nice clean-looking ASEs and gradually fill my ASE monster box with them. Cheapest ASEs I've run into!
Anyhow, today's haul of painted birds included one Morgan and one Peace dollar! That never happened to me before. Since ASEs, Morgans and Peace $s all cost in
the same zone, I doubt it makes any real difference---but nonetheless, it was a different and happy find. Who knows? It might be an omen and I may be about to hit the
mother lode of something! Maybe I should run out quick and grab a couple boxes of halves (ha,ha)!

What I want to know is how you found so many Liberty nickels so early, and how you got 1:1 ratio of liberty and buffalo! I didn't find one until about box 50, and my ratio is about 1:60!

Great finds though!

I think it's just complete beginner's luck. That and maybe the fact that not too many people are searching in my town. I live in West Virginia and there are A LOT of elderly people near the banks that I have had the most luck at.

AHA!! I think you just hit on what you've got "going right."

Where I live, the retirees are sucking the silvers out of the regional coin pool like a horde of old vampires. Where you live, you've got oldsters putting
silvers into the pool of circulating coin. No wonder I've got squat for luck and you're at risk of lower back strain from lugging all your silver around!

Congrats anyhow! Enjoy your good luck. Not many get it the way you've got it and in truth I envy your good CRH luck! Keep pounding it until it runs dry.

I didn't mean it in a bad way Ford. It was just an observation. I knew I wasn't the only one around because I do find a lot of marked coins and I have a lot of tellers tell me that "some guy just bought all we had".

Wow you are doing good WV!
I started roll hunting on the coattails of the Hunt bros. back in 1980.
To this day I still can't shake the habit.
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors...
Roll hunting since '77
Dirt fishing since '72

Back to reality. First box of halves of the day was a complete dud. No silver. No proofs. No errors. Nothing new than 2001. There were about 150-200 marked coins, so I'm definitely not the only addict in my area.
