my dump bank has an armed guard that stands in the corner of the parking lot, and then walks around the building and uses their smart phone to scan stickers to they know they are actually walking around the building. SO I usually will wait until they have me in sight before I start unloading, however I have taken out and loaded the truck at other banks with as much as 12k, and yes I have felt like people were watching me and I felt uncomfortable.

I use to carry a gun, don't anymore and at times have as much as 15k on me in coin or cash or a combination of both. I do watch the mirrors and if someone seems to be following me I just make a few right or left hand turns and as far as I know I have never been followed.

Quote: The town I live in is not large. There were 14 bank robberies here last year. Two were at the credit union my wife works at. The police are always too late. I'm sorry you live in a high-crime community. The OP was concerned about buying/selling bags/boxes of coins at a bank. Most of us have little to be concerned with in this regard. If you do live in a high-crime area, certainly you should be extra careful. I live in metro area of about 100,000 people with 30 banks and credit unions within 7 miles of me. There has not been a single bank robbery here in last two years and there has never been a patron at a bank robbed that I am aware of. Again, people living in high-crime areas need to take extra pre-cautions.

I live in a high crime city. I am armed 24/7. My pick up bank is right next to a highway on ramp and has been robbed once at gunpoint. My dump bank is in between two low-income housing areas. Better to be safe than sorry. I'm not leaving my bank in a body bag.

I have no fear. First off, I'm a hardcore concealed carry man, I'm ALWAYS packing. Secondly, running off with 5000 cents is going to be very difficult. I am in good shape and would certainly catch the perp. Thirdly, the banks I use have armed security and multiple cameras. However, all the cams would capture is a guy trying to rob me and then getting surprised when I pull out a 9mm.

Quote: About the 200th thread on this site where someone asks about coin security and the 200th time it denigrates into who has the biggest gun ........ really ? Yes, indeed. Please keep the discussion on numismatics. This is not a gun forum.

My biggest fear is that the bag will rip and scatter $500 in dimes across the parking lot.

Fortunately the bank I go to is right on the town square. City Hall is next door. The Sheriff's Dept is just behind City Hall. My car is literally parked 30 feet from the front door.

I was thinking about this the other day. I am armed everyday but I am very alert and never keep a pattern. Be alert always imo.
