I think NCLT is just a totally different world to coin collecting. Thus the difference in opinion when someone collects decimals. I collect both. For decimal collectors, these are the items discussed: Grades on my coin This coin I have might be a new variety I picked this coin at a crazy deal when it is a variety I am looking for Look at the die clash Could you guys see the tiny error or the crown and the doubling I think my coin is undergraded I am going to the coinshow No ending For NCLTcollectors: Who is ICCS Mint has a new product They are sold out People are flipping sold out coins and crazy prizes End of story ( lets wait for new product cycle) I think its quite unfair to just criticize nclt forum with discussions of flipping coin and profit because there are nothing to discuss about NCLT coin. The only thing they could discuss is how an item is sold out or if an item is going to be sold out which leads to the discussion of fliiping. I love old decimal coins and I collect them, never for resale and only selling when I am upgrading. It is the game. I love the new designs of NCLT coins, I did not want to get ripped off buying expensive on ebay. If possible I would like to get my NCLT coin for free from flipping. It is the game

From tocoins: "I personally think a sub-forum will help deal with the elephant in the room. We can selectively choose where to post and what to read. RFDer can benefit from a better forum structure. There's room for everyone."
I think that would be a good remedy for the situation. This way you can place your information in the correct category, and share it with the personnel who feel they can benefit from it the most. But I would be wary of creating a "CCF-RFD" sub-forum. The RFD forum is there for a reason. This would end up diluting the participation in the RFD thread.
The new sub-forum should be unique enough to separate itself from the CCF NCLT and RFD forums.

@MJT:
On just the one cent silver set, I posted:
Why didn't they make the large cent designs the proper form factor?
Isn't it disappointing that political correctness gets us "1" instead of "ONE"?
I think you're proving the need for a separate section.

When the price is going too high, I simply strike the coin from my list as there are always some other beautiful coins available for reasonable price.
Honestly I can't understand all the hype for the butterfly and grandmother moon, to me even their issue prices are overpriced.

Quote: If only knowledgeable collectors purchased coins, sales of NCLT would all but vanish I did not realize there was so much animosity between real coin enthusiasts and us moronic collectors of shiny colored bits of metal. I would have to say that comment is as valid as saying if you understood racing you would not watch NASCAR. Even if we were discussing art at its purest level eventually price would come up. NCLT may not be coins in the purest sense, but in my opinion are much more fun to collect than a coin with some mark on it that makes it more valuable.

Speaking of art, obviously, sarcasm is a lost art when it comes to the internet...

Wow.
Let's just be clear that supporting two sections is actually inclusive and supportive of both types of discussion.
What is ditzing the remainder of the forum?

I think the Aussie NCLT part of the forum is quiet mainly because there are not that may Aussie collectors of NCLT coins. I however DO collect NCLT but I prefer to wait a couple of years and let the dust settle before buying. I don't think there is a culture of flipping/value adding in the Aussie NCLT camp.

trout: I think your strategy is a good one, but you do need to keep a record of Mint information published on the coins you may consider to buy in the after market. That being the case, it would be good to have an honest reference library of past issues of the Coin $ Banknote Magazine.
Quite often, the previously issued NCLT product that you may consider is featured on the front cover; that would make searching through past issues easier.

as the starter of the RFD thread, I have something to say.
1... I consider it an honour to have my thread mentioned in a coin forum. :)
2... when I started the thread, most of the people there were new to coin collecting. That thread continues to evolve and god knows where it will end up. As it for now, considering it's on Finance forum, it makes sense for it to be more about "financial sense" than coin collecting.
3... I came here and started posting because I want to know more about coins, and frankly I ignore threads about people not talking about anything but coins.
I think mod here should try to make some of the topics more "on topic", do we need 3253 threads about how 1 coin got sold out in hours after release?
