Does anyone else find it strange that CA and Gatewest are limiting the numbers of the new butterfly coins, while the RCM site still has them both, and with no limits?

Perceived value: When you are limiting access to something, your perception is that it must be special/unique/highly sought after, this could be a factor to push your decision to buy if you are still indecisive (ie: Marketing gimmick!)

Why do they call the 'Maple of Peace' the "Fifth coin in the Mint's hologram maple series". I only see 2 other $15 coins with a small hologram in the middle that look similar. (there are others with other denominations so I don't see them as part of a series)

2011 'maple of happiness'
2012 'maple of good fortune'
2013 'maple of peace'

@Dcadon: I'm thinking the RCM is including the 2007 Maple of Long Life and 2009 Maple of Wisdon coins; both are $8.00 silver coins with holograms and feature China-themed designs.

Wouldn't that be 6 coins altogether?
$15 2013 Maple of Peace
$15 2012 Maple of Good Fortune
$15 2011 Maple of Happiness
$8 2010 Maple of Strength
$8 2009 Maple of Wisdom
$8 2007 Maple of Long Life

@Mrpiedfort: You're right, I "forgot" about the 2010 issue.

I wonder if the RCM is not counting the 2007 issue because of its noticeably different style vs. the rest of the "Maple of" coins?

Of course, they could have just miscounted!

Honestly, I don't like the 2007 Maple of Long Life and maybe the Mint too.

The first coin in this series is the blessing of wisdom...2009 so five releases in this series is correct..the early release were sterling...but now fine silver...

On what "official" source do you base this?

Varying metal content, weight, diameter and denomination. The Mint is really all over the map with this one.

The 2007 has a different designer so I guess they don't count it? Bizarre.

(btw, tired of individual coins with a loosely defined theme being called a 'series' by the Mint just to hook fish)
